Today’s reader feature is this Beautiful Canvas and Bench Matching Set, submitted by our friend SK Sartell. Using duck canvas that she first washed and ironed, SK then tore it to its desired size. SK built frames so that the canvas could be easily stretched by gluing and nailing the fabric to the frames. Next she used a damask stencil, a bleach pen to draw the details, and then washed and ironed the fabric again. SK prayed starch onto the canvas to get the wrinkles out, and sponge painted the edges. She then used my French Postmark image, Butterfly image, and French Cacao image to create this wonderful set. After sanding, filling and priming the oak wood bench, she added 2 inches of foam to the bench seat. Then SK covered it with a white broadcloth, and upholstered the bench with this lovely canvas that she created.
