DIY Seahorse Chair!

DIY Seahorse Chair

Today I’m sharing another fabulous DIY project submitted by another talented reader! I’m always amazed at what a talented bunch we have hanging out here at TGF! This one was submitted by Patty Williams. Patty made over a thrift shop find and turned it into this charming DIY Seahorse Chair! I love the color she used here, such a perfect Summer project!
DIY Seahorse Chair

Here’s what Patty had to say about this project… “I am doing a beach themed guestroom, I needed a chair for my little desk, I used a few other Graphics Fairy LLC images for instant art in the room, but wanted something different for the desk chair. Goodwill had 3 metal chairs that needed facelifts. I Bought all 3 for under 6 bucks. ”

Supplies:

1)Krylon spray paint in Lagoon

2) Clear coat spray

3) Seahorse Image

4) a 2’x2′ piece of canvas drop cloth

5) a Chartpack Blender pen

Seahorse Chair Before

Before photo of the chairs.

Steps:

Step 1) I removed some chipped paint and the seat from the chair. I did not take pictures of each step, but you can see the before pic above.

Step 2) I used Blockposters.com to enlarge the image and selected the letter option, and sliced it into 4 sheets of paper. I took the images to UPS and had them copied using toner. I measured my canvas drop cloth using the chair seat, and cut the excess paper from the paper. I taped it to the canvas, one piece at a time and used my ChartPack blender pen to transfer the image. I used the pen cap to rub over each section of the image to make sure it made good contact with the fabric.

Step 3) I then painted the chair in Krylon Lagoon, and sprayed it with a clear coat for durability when it was dry. Then I screwed the finished chair seat back onto the chair.

Step 4) I’m sneaking in a few instant art things I added from the Graphics Fairy . I love the little girl mermaid!!! Look at her eyes! The pic does not do it justice, its really a darker blue, my inkjet printer did fine for this though. I did this on canvas and framed it in silver frame. The second is a mermaid advert, I printed it on canvas, then mounted it on fabric. I’m not the best art maker, but I really love the images!!! My beach themed vintage bedroom is ready for guests! I even have a breakfast tray I did a few months ago , using a Graphics Fairy image done with the Mod Podge method, for a bowl of fruit for my sis, who will be using the bedroom in 2 weeks!!!! I kinda put them on the bed just to show what fun I’ve had using your site!!!
