Here’s another one of the fabulous antique Italian ephemera pieces, that I promised you! This one is also from my friend Daniela in Italy. This is such an amazing frame, so I’ve included a few versions for you to use. Although personally I like the original (the middle one) with it’s fabulous torn edges the best!!
Here I am, the supplier! 🙂 I woul like to translate for you the italian and latin written, but I am not so shure to be able to.
This is an ancient invitation: The solemn prizes distribution of Academy of Arts will be held in Campidoglio(Rome Town Hall) in the day of…. at … time.
“The latin written, NON CORONABITUR NISI LEGITIME CERTA VERIT (originally engraved on the main altar of austrian Melk Abbey, do you remember “The name of the rose” ?) means “WILL BE CROWNED ONLY THE ONES WHO FOUGHT ACCORDING TO THE RULES”.
Thank you for the beautiful pictures, it’s always fun to look at them and save
