Last last year when I redecorated my Living Room, I had the top part of this Antique Secretary to fill. My husband had been using it for his books, but when he moved his office to another part of the house, he took the books with him, and I kept the secretary for the Living Room. I had a few of these things already, but also I’ve been collecting things to add it for several months now and wanted to share.
I went with a color scheme of Brown, White and Gold. I love using Old Books for styling and creating Vignettes. Since I’m always buying old books to scan for my blog, it’s not too hard for me to find them! I have to confess I cheated with the White Coral, they are new and made of resin. I used to sell them in my shop. They really look like the real deal though and I like the added texture they provide.
If you look closely at the top of the shelf, you can see a beautiful large Vintage Gold Florentine Box that I found, to go with the smaller one that sits on the ledge of the Secretary. I adore those Florentine pieces, you can find them in trays and nesting tables as well. They are great for adding a touch of Bohemian style to your decor!
For many years I have collected these Italian Marble Bird Baths and other assorted pieces. I have loads of these, they come in all shapes and sizes, I can never resist them! I may do a post just on those at some point! You can usually find them very inexpensively at yard sales, so keep your eyes peeled when you are out and about!
I mixed in lots of Ironstone along with some Brown Transfer-ware pieces. I love how lacey looking the pattern is on this little Antique Creamer.
Oops! There was a little accident and this poor statue lost her head, when I accidentally knocked her off the shelf. Poor thing!
Thankfully I had a spare. Which now that I think about it, seems a little odd to me. Who has a spare bust lying around in a closet? I guess I do! Maybe that means my collecting is getting a bit out of control…or maybe I’m just really prepared in case of emergencies. 😉 I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my collections! What types of things do you guys collect and how you like to display them?
