First, you’ll need a few supplies & tools. For this project you will need:
I started with a pre-painted piece of wood, leftover from another project. If you’re starting from scratch, take a piece of 1×6 pine cut 24 inches long (the hardware store will do this for you), then paint it with 2-3 coats of the color of your choice.
Trim out your label, printing with a 3×5 template worked best for me. center the graphic on the board, about 1/2 inch from the end of the board.
Using Mod Podge, adhere the label to the board by putting a layer underneath and on top (according to directions. Set aside and let dry for a few hours.
Once dry, on the other end, start by using a hammer and attaching the jute webbing to the board.
You want the webbing to hang off of the board, allowing you to make the loops.
Measure 10 inches from the upholstery tacks, and you’ll find the place to fold and make the next loop.
Fold it under on the 10 inch mark, to make the turn.
Measure seven inches from the first upholstery tacks, then tack down the fold. This completes the first loop, and begins the second.
Measure 10 inches, fold, measure 7 inches tack it down, until you get to the end.
Once you’ve completed all three loops, add in your mail, catalogs or magazines, and you’re done! Just add on the picture hanging strips on back to put it on the wall.
This super easy project can hold more than just magazines, too. If you need to organize papers, it’s the perfect solution.
See you soon for another project. In the mean time, I’d love to see you on my blog at The Shabby Creek Cottage.

So cute! With as many magazines as I have around here, I’d need one as tall as my ceiling! 🙂 Where do you buy jute webbing? I’ve looked for it before with no luck, but I was probably looking in the wrong spot.

Hi Heathalee,
I got mine from burlapfabric.com – it’s pretty reasonable there I think.
