Tonight’s reader feature is this gorgeous DIY Rustic Butcher Crate Table, which was submitted by Tracy. Using a pine shipping crate, she distressed and weathered the wood, then transferred the George Walton Pig ad onto the table top. She added hinges to make an awesome coffee table with storage!

I just got a few shipping crates and would love to do a DIY project and turn them into tables. However, I know nothing about what it takes to distress or weather wood. Could you please tell me what you even mean by saying that Tracy had distressed the wood?

Hi Faylinn,
This was actually a reader feature so I’m not sure which method she used. I did a google search for “how to weather wood” here is a link to one option that has a tutorial that might be helpful, http://cherishedbliss.com/how-to-weather-wood/
There are many, many more if you want to try to search for more. Good luck with your project 🙂
