This morning’s reader feature are these beautiful French Poppy Chairs, submitted by our friend SK Sartell. These chairs were originally a hideous rust color velvet fabric with a sturdy wood frame, and in desperate need for a makeover. Choosing to kept the chairs upholstered the way they were, SK used a technique that is called wet on wet painting. Using chalk paint, she had to keep the fabric damp all during the painting process and sanded in between each coat. SK then hand painted the flowers and leaves onto the fabric, and then transferred my Antique Dragonfly image onto the seats of the chairs. She also painted white and black stripes onto the back of the chairs. These chairs are absolutely gorgeous! This is such a lovely project!
