We’ve lived in our home for about 10 years and I have yet to paint our master bath! The walls are still the same builders’ beige paint that they were the day we moved in. The color isn’t horrible at least, but the paint is cheap and flat, so if you get the slightest mark on it, you can’t clean it off. I’m so glad to have the opportunity to try out Glidden paint, with the help of their site MyColortopia.com and finally work on making over this space. My first stop for inspiration was the Glidden Paint Pinterest Page! I was excited to find some lovely color combos there created by my friend Diane Henkler, from In My Own Style. Our master bedroom is a smoky blue color and the curtains and bedding are tan/linen. I want to paint the bathroom a soft tan to pull in the those shades from the bedroom. I really like Glidden paint’s Whispering Wheat above. I love the fact that Glidden paint offers a simplified palette that just includes colors that are easy to live with, like the ones above. Other paint companies provide you with a huge amount of color selections, which can be so overwhelming. Glidden paint pares things down a bit, so that your eye can take it all in, making it easier to zone in on your perfect tone. A simplified palette works for me, I don’t need 5,000 tans to choose from, just a few will do, thank you very much! This Warm Stone paint color is so soothing and restful looking, perfect for a master bath I think! Here’s another nice tan tone, Pacific Khaki. Here’s a before photo of my bathroom. Glidden paint has some great tools that can help you with your design process when picking out colors. I had so much fun playing with My Colortopia’s tools! My Colortopia is all about making painting fun and easy! Just take a before photo of your room, like the one above, or you can use one of their photos if you prefer, and upload it to the site. You can choose from color palettes selected by top DIY bloggers like Diane, or take a quiz that selects colors based on your personality. How fun! I cropped my photo down a bit first, to get a nice visually clean space to work with, and this is what I came up with. Here’s my bathroom with Willow Leaf on the walls. Paint makes such a difference doesn’t it?!! I love that you get this cool card that you can print out, with your room paint color and accent colors too. It makes it easy to turn your ideas and inspiration into a finished project. Of course you can always go the old-fashioned route too and tape some paint chips onto your wall. I recommend doing both, so that you can see the color in your room with different types of light through out the day and night. This is the whole range of colors that I’m considering, starting from left to right. Whispering Wheat, Soft Suede, Antique Beige, Dapper Tan, Warm Stone, Forest Khaki, Grand Canyon Tan, Pacific Khaki & Hazy Sage. Some of the ones along the right were a bit more on the green side, but I definitely see some things on the left that could work. What do you think? Can you guess which color I chose to paint my bathroom? Do you have a room that you’ve been wanting to paint? Anyone can do this. Visit MyColortopia.com, and let them guide you through it! You can find Glidden paints at Home Depot, Walmart and other fine retailers.
