Hi guys! Well so far we’ve had an amazing response for the upcoming Online Crafting Class that Heather Tracy will be teaching right here on The Graphics Fairy! Nearly 1,000 of you have signed up already to get more info about the Beginner Mixed Media Class, via our email list, and we are so thrilled that you are as excited to learn these techniques as we are to share them with you! Β I thought I would give you a sneak preview today of just one of the awesome techniques that will be included in the Class!
It’s a Distressed Steel Technique! Is this not phenomenal?! And what’s even more incredible is that there is no metal in this at all! This is actually made out of Paper, well Cardstock to be exact, and a little Heather Tracy magic! π
Just check out all of the yummy Industrial Rustic Detail on this piece!
Heather will show you how to use this technique to create a Gorgeous Journal Cover!!
What do you think? We are tentatively scheduled to release this course in October, although we don’t have an exact date yet. Are you on our mailing list so that you can be among the first to know when the class will be offered? We will be offering discounted pricing for a limited time on this course, so make sure you get on the list so that you don’t miss that!
Would you like to be added to our Crafting eCourse Mailing List so that you find out when this course will be offered? Just fill in the form below! (Don’t worry, we won’t share your email address with anyone else)
Would you like to see a preview of the Course Introduction? Just watch the video below as Heather discusses what’s in store for the Class!Β

No problem Mary Paula, we will take care of it for you π
Karen Isaacson says
Please add me to the list…hopefully, you’ll have these on hand to log in and view again so that we can refresh our memories of techniques periodically as well. Looks like a lot of info – more than can be absorbed in one session.
Heather Tracy says
Hi Karen! The course will consist of a series of videos, each one demonstrating in detail how to achieve each technique, and how to integrate that technique into the project – the videos will be yours to download and keep forever. Additionally, we’re creating brief step-by-step outlines of each major process, complete with images, so that you can print out quick-reference guides, if you like. And finally, as a student, you will have exclusive access to a private Facebook Group, where you can ask questions, share your progress, and connect with other wonderful creatives!
Chris says
I’d like to be added too thx.

Heather Tracy says
Hi Nancy – Here’s the good news: this is totally at your own pace. Once the course becomes available, you work through the sections at your convenience. You can go as quickly or as slowly as you like.
Additionally, you will have the ability to download the videos and other course materials, so that you can reference them forever!
Also, you’ll have exclusive access to a Private Facebook Group, just for students, where you can ask questions, clarify technical points, and connect with other wonderful Mixed Media Artists!
Rupa says
i hope there will be one video per technique so that we can get only the ones of utmost interest to us. PS: does this mean you will no longer be sharing your amazing techniques outside of the class?
Heather Tracy says
Hi Rupa! Here’s how this will work – once you become a student, you will be able to either work your way through the entire series of videos, worksheets, etc. in order to complete the sample project, OR you can simply browse through the materials, deciding which are of interest to you, and download and keep just what appeals to you the most. I hope that you actually join in for the entire project, as it is designed to bring all of the techniques into play, building one upon the next, to create not only a wonderful work of art, but to help develop a way of thinking and seeing that will enrich your work from here on out.
Additionally, the Private Facebook Group exclusively for Graphics Fairy students will be an invaluable resource…you’ll be able to get answers to any questions you may have, and we will be sharing lots of support and information that won’t be available anywhere else!
Not to worry, I will still be posting techniques for all to enjoy both on The Graphics Fairy and at Thicketworks! Thanks for your input – it is always appreciated, and always valuable. xox
Rupa says
Thanks Heather! My dream is to join you for the whole shabang (time and price permitting). I hate to join and not have time to complete anything and feel a bit left out when others are progressing with daily involvement. I am still super excited, will see how it pans out. Thanks again for all you do!!
Heather Tracy says
I totally understand, Rupa…the good thing is, you’ll be able to go at whatever pace fits your busy schedule! xox
Elizabeth Baker says

Loved the free video. It is so easy to make things look vintage. Fun to do! Thanks. Looking forward to the on-line class. When do we sign up?

Elaine Carter says
I loved the process! It was quick and to the point. I can’t wait for more!

Hi Elaine! Yay! So glad that you found value in this little nugget! I think you’ll be pleased when you see what we’ve cooked up for you. π
leslie stevens says
Really want to see the mixed media faux wrought iron technique but my computer tells me it’s an invalid source. Can you tell me what format you’re using so I can get my computer to accept it. Thanks, really excited about the course, been waiting for something like this for a long time, and just in time for Christmas too.
Leslie
Karen Watson says
Hi Leslie, I’m so sorry about that! I think it’s an MP4 file. It’s probably not going to be in that same format in the course. I quickly uploaded it to the video software that I use on my computer and changed the format so that it would load quicker, but I’m not working on any of the video stuff for the course. Emily and Heather are doing that part. I hope that helps! If you can’t get it working, drop me an email and I’ll try to figure out another option for you. π
leslie stevens says
Thanks, I’ll let you know.
Kim says
Thanks so much Heather for the wrought iron free video… you make it look so easy! Can’t wait for your class!
Heather Tracy says
Hi Kim! You are SO welcome, my friend! Looking forward to working with you – we will have FUN!

Janice says
Love every thing you do, am happy to join your online class but having trouble “joining”…..
Janice. [email protected]
graphicsfairy says
Thanks so much Janice! No worries, we will sign up up on our end π Have a great day!
Dianne says
Enjoyed the video. So happy to have a use for those expensive but expired spices! Looking forward to learning and trying more mixed media techniques.
Heather Tracy says
Hi Dianne! I’m with you, my friend. Now, I don’t feel guilty about having 5 year old allspice in the studio, as opposed to the pantry! This is such a fun technique: I hope you try it.
Pam Parker says
That wrought iron technique is wonderful. Very eager to try it out. I am not sure what joint compound is.
Heather Tracy says
Hi Pam – Joint Compound is the paste-like substance used to fill the gaps between sheets of drywall, when finishing interior walls. I looked it up on Google and they say it’s known as “Joint Filler” in Australia…I’m sure it’s available at your local hardware or building supply store. I hope you do try it – and that you have as much fun with it as I do!
Sherlene Mats says
Thank you so much for the easy, but fabulous, Mixed Media free video!
Heather Tracy says
Hey there, Sherlene! Yay! Happy you enjoyed it. xox
Janus says
Well done Heather! Loved your “Magic” technique.
Heather Tracy says

Lanna says
Thank you SO MUCH for the gift of the video! I loved it! Heather is such a wonderful instructor and so talented. I found the video so interesting.. I can’t wait to try it! Thanks again! Looking forward to the class.
Lanna
Heather Tracy says
Hi Lanna! We’re thrilled that you enjoyed the video. So looking forward to working with you in class, my friend!
Stephanie says
Thanks for the “Magic” video. I actually loved the look even before the faux rust was added. The black gloss would really make words and embellishments pop on a canvas and would be a great alternative to embossing powder – thicker and more textured. Looking forward to the course!
Heather Tracy says
Hi Stephanie! Yes. That is what I love SO much about layering processes: you can take them in SO many different directions. Gloss would be fantastic, and I’d love to see your version!
Vicki says
Loved the free intro video technique can’t wait for the course now, can you tell me where to get joint compound also I tried to sign up for email updates for e-classes when they start but nothing happened
graphicsfairy says
Hi Vicki, we are happy to sign you up on our end, can you send me the email address that you would like us to send the updates to? Thanks so much!
Karen Watson says
Hi Vicki, You have been on the email list since 10/2, if you didn’t see the email with the Free Video Technique in your inbox, please check your spam folder, it’s most likely there.
LaDon says
Thank you SO much for the video! I have been following both of you for quite a while and soaking up everything you share with us! I can’t wait for this class to begin so I can keep learning from you!!!
Heather Tracy says
Hi LaDon – So happy you liked it…looking forward to working with you, my friend…this will be FUN!
Tracy Welham says
As I’m already receiving emails from you does this mean I will receive an email regarding the ecourse? I tried to sign up via the link just in case as I don’t want to miss out but it wouldn’t submit. Quite excited after viewing the video and time and funds permitting I really hope to join up. Creative Blessings, Tracy x
graphicsfairy says
Hi Tracy,
Yes, you are good to go and will continue to receive updates. We’re getting close, yea!! We will keep you posted π
Margie Davidson says
Great freebie video on the faux metal technique. Easy to follow and apart from the joint compound, I think I have all the ingredients so looking forward to having a go. Thanks so much.

Thanks Margie! You can pic up the joint compound at your local Hardware store π

graphicsfairy says
Sure will Frani, so happy you enjoyed it π
