One of our readers, Shelia pointed out that it could be the entrance/gatehouse to a stately manor or estate. It is so interesting and unique regardless 🙂

No offense, it’s a lovely image, but I’m pretty sure this is a gatehouse, not a manor house. These were built at or near the entrance to an estate, originally as part of the fortifications and housing for the gatekeeper. Eventually, as in this case, became more of grand entrance and housing for the Estate steward or perhaps some ne’er-do-well family member.
