Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Norma tell you all about her incredible project…
Hi everyone I’m Norma of Crafted by Norma and I would love you to share with me my first design team project for The Graphics Fairy. I only became involved in mixed media art and paper crafts when I retired and my inspiration for my art and journals are drawn from the 19th Century. I was totally overwhelmed with the number of images, printables and bundles that were available in the Premier Membership Site. So, my first thought was to go by the colour palette that suited my style of journals. I like to work with muted earthy tones and have them distressed to add the aged look. After looking at all the background papers I themed the colour on the beautiful script background paper throughout the journal as the base to work on. The journal itself was made from A4 kraft card and manila envelopes so this dictated the size of 8.25inch x 5.5 inch
The front cover itself is made from double A4 kraft card to give it a more solid base and have added a chain from a broken bracelet for the fastening. Add is a notebook for extra journaling space with a tag and label using a 19 th century figure from the Digi People bundle No.2. As I only glue the note book on three side this allowed me to add a journaling tag at the back of the notebook. The note book its self has coffee stained and vintage papers added with the feather note book paper to add extra interest
The first pages are made up using labels and images form the Apothecary Labels and the Cabinet of Curiosity Bundle as well as the vintage letter from the ephemera paper collection. I used an old manila envelope attached to the side of the page as a pocket. Because the signature was made of envelopes this allowed me to make a slit at the top and add extra writing space for the card tab.
On this next page it opens up with the other half of the manila envelope as a pocket and also a side pocket to hold one of the tags. I adjusted the tags to suit from the Tags- Custom Distress Tags Bundle to use though out the journal. With this tag I used a coffee-stained index card with a piece of the beautiful script paper and one of my own stamps.
The side of this envelope was split and I have used the mini planner note paper for extra writing space.
As I like to add interest by using hidden flip ups this time it is for the extra space in a notelet form and the opposite page, I have added a 2-inch paper clip for the attachment of ephemera and writing papers, with small tags and vintage postcard from the ephemera paper. This time one of the tags has been inserted into the side of the page, I particularly like the leather look on the tags I used.
Added to this page is more from the ephemera writing papers and I have made a larger tag from the same leather look tag. I have made a window pocket from kraft card stock that wraps around the page for added interest.
The addition of labels and the tags add to the overall theme of Apothecary and with the numerous possibilities from the images and kits I was extremely please with the result of my journal. On the last pages I have added a note book and also one of my faux quill pens.
