Boho Floral Junk Journal
Hey guys, once again one of our fabulous Junk Journal Design Team Members, Beth from Beth’s Journal Boutique, has created a fabulous junk journal for us. As you know, we are featuring one new Junk Journal each week created by our team of talented artists. Our goal is that you be totally inspired by this series! Beth created a beautiful Boho Floral Junk Journal for us this week. Be sure to check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…you need to scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired?
And now I will let Beth tell you about her project in her own words…
Hi everyone! I am back again to share my July design team project. I have seen a lot of Boho journals over the past few months in the junk journal community and I wanted to showcase for you some of the beautiful papers in the Antique India Patterns bundle that are perfect for these projects. This bundle includes a variety of beautifully colored and distressed 8.5 x 11 patterned papers, washi strips, and some domino sized images that are perfect to use to create fun tabs! I’ve used these beautiful papers, adding bright fabrics and trims and some pretty florals to create this one signature travelers notebook sized journal. Let me show you how I have used this beautiful bundle in my project.
For the cover, I have printed two of my favorite papers on double-sided matte photo paper; since photo paper is meant to enhance color, this ensured that the cover was crisp with a rich color. After sewing in the signature, I adhered a scrap of Tilda fabric to the spine. Because this fabric was going to be on the cover, I wanted to make sure it was fully covered and with no glue marks showing through the fabric. To achieve this, I used a sheet of strong double-sided tape; I have had this in my stash for a couple of years but have never used it. A sheet of double -sided tape was the perfect solution and I am thrilled with how this turned out. The closure is a bit of gold-edged ribbon .
To carry the boho theme throughout the journal, I have used the Tim Holtz Sizzix “Crochet” die to cut trim from several of the papers to add color and decoration to the pages. I have also used the off cut pieces in a few places as there were some interesting shapes that go with the theme of the journal. Make sure you consider those off-cut pieces when you use your dies! You never know what you will be able to create with them!
The Graphics Fairy has many different floral images to choose from and you can find them in many of the bundles offered. For this journal, I have used an image from the new Garden Party bundle – the colors are perfect for this project. Make sure you check out each bundle (there is a new one launched every week) as there are lots of little gems to enhance your projects.
To add to the boho feel of this journal, I’ve added lots of texture to the pages with tabs, trims and gathered fabrics; I’ve even added a beaded tassel to a paper clip to add a floral image. You know I love adding page tabs and these ones are cut from a die, with scraps of gold lace and trims added to push that boho look!
This journal is bright and fun but with a vintage twist that is perfect for summer journaling.

Hi Jenn, Many of the Printables used in our Design Team posts, come from our Premium site here https://members.thegraphicsfairy.com/, we have loads of old postcards, images and premade printables that are made to go into these journals. You can of course use your own treasures as well, or combine them with ours. You can scan in and print, old family photos, treasured family recipes, and embellish with buttons from Grandma’s stash, or broken jewelry pieces that have sentimental value etc. We hope you will give Junk Journaling a try!
