Hello, I hope everyone is having a nice January so far. Today I am sharing a junk journal I have created for the Graphics Fairy Premium Membership site for the month of January 2021. I have called it A Botanist’s Notebook. I was trying to make it seem as if it was a lady’s notebook where she would keep a record of different types of plants and flowers as she explored in nature.
I started the journal by creating the cover from Graphics Fairy Premium images. The spine and back is an image from the book covers and tin types bundle of an antique book…. I love this one so much! The black is so pretty for the spine of the journal and it really does give the look of a very old book. I printed the image onto matte presentation paper that I found at my local office supply store and it really gave the black a nice deep color. The gold on the image has such a warm realistic look as well. I used the Herborita typography image on the cover.
This lady’s favorite place to be was in a little cabin on the property of her family home. She is a young lady still living at home with her family and while her sisters are very interested in all the latest dresses and fashions, she is drawn to the beauty of nature and spends a great deal of time there.
She likes to record plants and herbs she finds, as well as many beautiful flowers.
She collects seeds and also takes note of the birds, insects and butterflies she encounters as well.
When creating the journal to fit the story I used some dried flowers I had saved in a book since summertime from the garden. I took a few sprigs and glued them to some papers and added some beautiful Graphics fairy labels to mimic a flower specimen card. I also added many
pictures of butterflies and trees.
As you start to go through the journal you will notice the little bits of gold sprinkled about on the pages. The young lady started to notice that her notebook would be open to new pages when she would come back to her cabin the next day. She started finding golden little dust speckles along the pages. She decided to start keeping some of her findings and put a bit of the gold dust in a little bottle. She is also taking note of the changes in her notebook every day.
She had read about something called forest fairies in a book one time, and she started to wonder, could it be that there were some tiny creatures leaving her these golden bits of fairy dust?
