Butterfly Junk Journal
Hey everyone. Terri Kolte, one of our amazing NEW Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a gorgeous Butterfly Art Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Terri introduce herself, and tell you all about her lovely project…
Let me introduce myself- I’m Terri, aka The Gypsy Magpie. I love vintage, all kinds of texture & layers, and anything that sparkles. I use ten inch dressmaker shears to fussy cut even the tiniest snip of an image and I rarely have hands that don’t still show the painty/inky remains of my latest collage adventure. Oh yes- my biggest news is that I’m also still pinching myself since finding out I am a new member of The Graphics Fairy design team!
I’ve loved The Graphics Fairy Premium Membership from the very beginning. I use vintage and vintage-inspired images in everything I make and the premium membership site is my go-to for inspiration.
The idea for this project started with one of the bundled collection of butterflies. As I sat there printing them out, I was browsing through other bundles and, well, one thing led to another and pretty soon I was swimming in pretty things to play with!
One of my favorite details here is the antennae on the butterflies. I found some black micro cord and thought it would be perfect looped through the metal charms. It turned out to be a really fun embellishment!
Postcards, frames, labels and flowers helped fill the the blank space. I normally mix and match from all the bundles- I don’t feel the need to use everything from one collection. The more, the merrier!
This folio structure was created as I went- adding a pocket here, a “flip” page there. The way I look at things- the more real estate I have available, the more pretty images and papers and trims I can attach!!
If I can also slip in a few typed quotes then I’m a very happy girl.
There’s nothing more inspiring to me than a stack of freshly printed images and a sharp pair of scissors!

So in love with this journal! I’m curious though Terri where you got some of the background floral pages, like the red background under the butterfly with the wonder charm? Is that in the subscription images too? Also, the brown and white background.
Thanks!

Hi Joyce, We’re so glad that you liked Terri’s journal! While we do have tons of floral pages on the site, I don’t recognize those particular ones. I’m guessing they are scrapbook papers that she picked up along the way.

This is totally amazing….I want to make one for my daughter. I actually have a little notebook, that I keep all my fabric samples in and paint colors from decorating in our home. it’s really helpful when I make a purchase. I have measurements of furniture and wall space, just in case I find a piece of furniture I like, this way I know if it will fit.

That’s such a great idea Linda!

Beautiful butterfly junk journal! I am so amazed and inspired by the variety of projects created each week using GF premium images. PS: it looks like template was copied without this week’s artist name????sorry I happened to notice it, not trying to be picky here.
