Deconstructed Christmas Junk Journal – Sheena of Luna Rozu
Hey everyone. Sheena of Luna Rozu, one of our amazing NEW Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a fabulous “Deconstructed” Christmas Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Sheena introduce herself, and tell you all about her lovely project…
Greetings again fellow crafters! This is Sheena once again from Luna Rozu and this time around with the festive season just a month away, I have decided to put my creative spin on the Christmas theme by creating a deconstructed junk journal in the form of a mini envelope collection. I had the most wonderful time crafting this collection especially with Christmas songs in the background – trust me!
To start crafting the envelopes from scratch, I chose vintage papers from the Blank Paper Ephemera bundle. This particular set is an absolute dream-come-true especially if you don’t have time to coffee stain papers. There are all sorts of stains and lined papers in a variety of shades so choose to your heart’s desire! Now because I wanted to add a little something extra for these envelopes, I went ahead to choose a brighter pattern for the inside of the envelopes. I selected mine from the Seamless Pattern, Farmers Market and Delicate End Papers bundles. These were printed on a full page borderless setting on my printer.
Another easy way to start your envelope collection is by utilizing the pre-designed envelopes offered on The Graphics Fairy Premium Membership Site! You’ll find plenty of sizes and designs to choose from. Another God-sent if you don’t have an envelope maker. My mini Christmas envelopes are from the Victorian Christmas Scraps and Victorian Christmas bundles.Print, trim and embellish away! I used lace, buttons, pins, charms, stamps and even white gesso to give mine that festive look. The creative possibilities are endless and all you need is your imagination.
To create more room to journal in this collection, I have also created another mini booklet with Bingo cards from the Victorian Christmas Scraps bundle. I left about half an inch paper allowance on the top part of the cards for binding and perforated on the top edge of the cards so that you could tear out the cards without tearing into the design.
And of course, I filled the envelopes with a mix of authentic and printed ephemera. For me personally, I don’t tend to invest a lot on seasonal ephemera pieces like Christmas for instance. I rely
a lot on printed ephemera and The Graphics Fairy Premium Membership Site bundles are filled with gorgeous ephemera which you can download as-is in high resolution (so important when resizing!) or print out the pre-designed ones.
Most of the Christmas ephemera I have included in this collection are pre-designed from the Pastel Christmas, Nostalgic Christmas Illustrations, Holiday Dogs & Cats, Retro Christmas Images, Retro Christmas, Mini Ephemera Pieces and Wallpaper Samples bundles. If you have never done an envelope collection before, I definitely recommend starting out with the pre-designed ones here on The Graphics Fairy Premium Membership site. They don’t just have Christmas ones but also Easter, Valentine’s and well, pretty much anything! Play around with designing these ones first and soon you’ll find out that it’s not much different than embellishing a pocket.
