Dark Fairy Junk Journal
Hey guys, one of our fabulous Junk Journal Design Team Members, Lynne Morgado from Mockingbird and Main, is back with us this week. As you probably know by now, we are featuring a different Junk Journal each week, by some amazing artists. We hope you have been inspired by this series! Lynne created this delightfully gothic Dark Fairy Junk Journal for the month of October. I will let Lynne tell you all about it in her own words …
Hello again everyone, it’s Lynne from Mockingbird and Maine, I am so happy to be back to show you my October Design Team Junk Journal. This journal took on a life of its own once I finally settled on a theme and then a story unfolded.
It is a hardcover tome with a nature and dark fairy theme. While exploring the premium website I found so many images to create a journal that tells the story of a Victorian gentleman searching for answers to explain his daughter’s strange behavior. His search leads him to the existence of Fairies!
This journal has a gothic look and feel to it. These are not your friendly neighborhood fairies. These fairies have stolen his child and replaced her with a changeling.
I loved the Fairyland Landscapes bundle and had fun using some of the images from it, to illustrate areas of his property where he was searching for proof of the Fairies.
Here you can see another one of those mysterious wooded areas by a river or stream, where the Fairies just might be hiding…
The Marbled Endpapers that are available in the Premium membership were perfect to create the vintage, masculine look that I was going for throughout this journal.I also tried my hand at creating faux leather from craft paper card stock and love the results!
I wanted to add small touches of whimsy in this dark story and the Kaleidoscope Circles Collage Sheet found in the Delicate Butterflies bundle and Fairy Wings Collage Sheet from the Ballerina Fairies bundle – both from the premium membership were the beautiful pops of color I was looking for.
There’s something a bit magical, and fairy like, about Butterflies and Moths … don’t you agree?
I hope you like what I have created and enjoy the story this journal tells.
Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my junk journal project.
