Emma Junk Journal
Hey everyone. Design Team member Anna Hollingworth of Leximbue Journals created a fabulous Emma Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series! Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Anna tell you all about her lovely project…
I hope you are all well and dedicating part of this social distancing time to your creativity. Thank you all so much for taking a look at my new journal, ‘Emma’, today. This journal and mini idea notebook that complements it, are dedicated to the wonderful novel, ‘Emma’, by Jane Austen. I have created what I would have expected her private journal to look like, using exclusively Graphics Fairy themed bundles from the Premium membership site.
There is a lot of space for journaling, documenting and mixed media art. Following the story line, the pages reflect Emma’s thought process and planning for various occasions such as tea parties, balls, dinners and picnics. The color scheme that I have used throughout is that of the Regency period and there are lots of images of outfits that represent the fashion of the times.
The cover of the journal comes from the bundle featuring ‘Emma’ and it is a stunning recreation of the cover image from the first edition of the novel. It is printed beautifully and is a pleasure to look at. For her little ideas notebook cover, I have used an image from the ‘In the Garden’ bundle. It is a mini journal cover.
From the ‘Delicate Endpapers’ bundle I created washi tape stickers which I attached on different images to give an impression of safekeeping her notes and drawings. I also added them as endpapers and elsewhere as decorative papers.
I absolutely love bunting! So I made some, using gold thread to connect the little flags.
Both books have a lot of handmade vintage lace and special fabrics added to them to enrich the experience of going through the journal. Bookmarks from ‘Jane Austen Embroidery’ bundle are stitched on the edges of the papers to be used as pockets and tuck spots. I hope you enjoy the flip through of this journal and notebook as much as I enjoyed creating them!
