Floral Garden Junk Journal
Hey guys, once again one of our fabulous Junk Journal Design Team Members, Terri Kolte, has created a fabulous junk journal for us. As you know, we are featuring one new Junk Journal each week created by our team of talented artists. Our goal is that you be totally inspired by this series! Terri created a fun Floral Garden Junk Journal! Be sure to check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…you need to scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired?
And now I will let Terri tell you about her project in her own words…
“You’re only here for a short visit. Don’t hurry, don’t worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.”
– Walter Hagen
I’ve been spending an awful lot of time tending to my backyard lately. It’s always changing- at times needing something, other times offering something.
Wanting to capture memories from this summer’s colorful snippet of time spurred me to put together a junk journal that would include not only photos and notes of what is, but also plans and dreams for what could be.
I carry- and use- a travelers notebook every day so there was no doubt this would be the best format for my journal. A mix of different papers, from card stock to sheet music to book pages, creates the eclectic feel I love.
There were so many beautiful images to choose from when I browsed the bundles on the Premium Member site- I had a stack of flowers and birds in no time. Like always, I printed things in a variety of sizes. I find that gives me the most flexible options when I sit down to start filling the blank pages.
Garden Party and the Pink, Blue, Red Florals bundles were the backbone. I found that by turning the banner printables from Garden Party I could create a “slash” pocket- I know I’ll be doing this again! Ephemera always helps to round out a journal by giving lots of small pieces to tuck into pockets and clip to pages so I always try make sure I include a lot of it. The French Paperie Collection coordinated very nicely, allowing the colorfully Vibrant Birds and pretty florals to be the real stars. Here and there I scattered fussy cut birds and leaves where I could, along with printable seed packets- tucking between pages and into pockets.
I’m looking forward to filling this little journal now, while my hands are in the dirt and the flowers are blooming like crazy so that when the winter months come I can look back at all the color and textures just waiting for their chance to return again.
Happy crafting!
xo Terri

I love Terri Kolte’s Garden Junk Journal. I admired the combination of different images in a collage-style. I have a questions: What paper did Terri print on, as some pages, especially the covers, look a bit shiny, but not too shiny?
Thank you in advance.

Thanks Doris, I agree Terri’s journal is gorgeous!! She is so creative and talented 🙂 She doesn’t say what she is using but it appears to be card stock. Here is a link to her blog, http://www.thegypsymagpie.com/ you can see some of her other creations there 🙂
