Floral Portraits Junk Journal
Hey, everyone! Valerie Burton of Little Maine Cottage, one of our amazing new Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a fabulous Floral Portraits Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. This vintage-style junk journal is #14 of my ongoing Notation Series. I have named this journal FLORAL PORTRAITS as I was inspired by the beautiful floral and album images found on the
Premium Membership Site. This journal measures 4 x 6 inches. It has one signature with approximately 100 page sides and is exceptionally and intentionally chunky. I used lots of left-over and discarded cloth pieces in creating the collaged front and back cover. To make the expandable closure, I used a vintage satin-covered button and placed an elastic cord through eyelets, tied & beaded the ends. My aim was to create a small album-style journal using as many of the floral album frames to house photograph images in combination with botanical imagery throughout.
On the left, the side-loading pocket is made from A ROSE IS A ROSE journal card back with a journal card made from SWEET FENNEL BOTANY ILLUSTRATION. On the right, the album frame is from the VINTAGE ALBUM FRAMES bundle.
On the left, I layered fussy-cuts from LILIES FLOWER, BOHEMIAN BUTTERFLIES COLLAGE SHEET, and EPHEMERA STRIPS COLLAGE SHEET on the pocket and tucked in a journal card made from GREEN PEELING WOOD and FLORIST ROSE VASE CARD. On the right, I continued with EPHEMERA STRIPS COLLAGE SHEET.
On the left, I fussy-cut FLORAL WREATH image to construct a see-through pocket. On the right, I used FOXED PAGE from VINTAGE PAPERIE bundle and layered on a piece of the EPHEMERA STRIPS COLLAGE SHEET with EPHEMERA ROMANCE WHITE ROSE image.
On the left, I tore and placed a piece of THE GUILDED AGE wallpaper. On the right, I used PURPLE PANSY from VINTAGE ALBUM FRAMES bundle for a tuck in which I
placed VICTORIAN ROSE CARD for a journaling spot.
On the left, using a tiny paperclip, I pinned an image from SPRING ENDPAPERS COLLAGE SHEET to SPRING ALBUM FRAMES, VIOLA IVY ARCH image, On the right, under the belly-band, I placed two images, FLORIST BOOK PAGE along with BLANK FLORAL MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE.
On the left, fussy-cut CHELSEA PINK PEONY along with an bit of EPHEMERA STRIPS COLLAGE SHEET. On the right, I placed FLORAL CO LABEL in which to journal on the side-loading pocket.
On the left, I adhered ALBUM FRAME FORGET-ME-NOT from SPRING ALBUM FRAMES bundle to the edge of a page made from an antique ledger to create a pocket. On the right, I constructed a tuck out of BLISSFUL BLOSSOM PINK ROSE and a torn piece of the EPHEMERA STRIPS COLLAGE SHEET.
On the left, using FLORAL BLANK LABEL image, I inserted a photograph and constructed a tuck and included one of the FRENCH GARDEN JOURNAL CARDS. On the right, pieces of EPHEMERA STRIPS COLLAGE SHEET, BOHEMIAN BUTTERFLIES COLLAGE SHEET, and THE GUILDED AGE wallpaper decorate the page.
On the left, I placed a vintage photograph in PHOTOGRAPHERS OVAL ROSE FRAME and used as a belly-band. On the right, I used TATTERED ROSE PAPER from TATTERED PAPER TREASURES 2 and placed a bit of collage from GREEN COLOR SCHEME FUSSY-CUT STICKER SHEET.
On the left, I used one of the BLUE FLOWER TAGS printable along with an envelope I constructed by printing PINK GREEN ROSE PAPER on tracing paper. On the right, I made a tiny tag from one of the images out of GREEN COLOR SCHEME FUSSY-CUT STICKER SHEET and used a piece of the SPRING ENDPAPERS COLLAGE SHEET for a journal
card.
