Hello there! Today I am sharing my design team project for The Graphics Fairy Premium site for the month of March 2021. For this month, I decided to create a little journal I imagined a lady might have owned and lovingly placed bits and pieces of her life inside. There are prayer cards, bits of lace, photographs, jewelry charms, receipts, letters, poems and pretty silk remnants. I was imagining that a lady might have collected these little mementos and tucked them inside her journal for safekeeping.
For this months journal, I also decided to include a little bundle of envelopes filled with pictures and ephemera in addition to the journal. I was thinking of it as a little stack of memories. I layered the envelopes with Graphics Fairy images, old French papers, old wallpapers, a wax seal, an old postcard, some bits of lace, and some charms.
I was thinking the journal and little envelope bundle might be something you would find tucked away in a forgotten attic. I really loved The Graphics Fairy bundle French Attic Ephemera. It inspired the concept of the journal. Actually I love all the French bundles and go for them time and time again! The prayer cards and religious ephemera in this particular bundle is so beautiful.
On the cover I used an image from the Antique Portraits 2 bundle as my focal point. I love this beautiful little girl with her veil and rose crown. I was trying to make the journal look as if there were papers and bits tucked in here and there. I purposely made the pages varying sizes and even some sticking out of the bottom and top of the covers. I love that mix matched.. little bit messy look.
I really loved the color palette of this journal.. What is prettier than soft pink mixed with aged paper? It is a very peaceful and feminine journal. I would love to write my hopes, dreams, and my prayers in this journal. I tried to mix the whites and creams with darker kraft colored brown paper here and there. I love the contrast of whites in a journal. I also used varying shades of soft pink.
I created quite a few tags for the inside of the journal. Tags are so charming! I used several of my vintage wallpaper patterns that go with the color scheme. I love how mixing the beautiful scripts available at the membership site go so well with the florals of the wallpapers. I even used some of the script patterns as my pages and to back the images I printed so they weren’t stark white on the back. This journal has many tucks and pockets… bits and pieces… a dash of sparkle and lots of pretty colors to liven up the gray skies outside right now. I hope you enjoy the flip through and I will see you next month.
