Garden Party Junk Journal
Hey guys, once again one of our fabulous Junk Journal Design Team Members, Lynne Morgado, has created a fabulous junk journal for us. She shares her incredible Garden Party Junk Journal with you! Each week we spotlight another Mixed Media project, created by one of the amazing Designers on our team. The designers are tasked to use images from our Premium Membership Site to provide inspiration for your own projects. Be sure to check out her Show and Tell Video below. Please scroll down to the end of this post to see her video. Be prepared to be inspired! I will now allow Lynne to tell you all about her art in her own words…
Hello everyone, I am back to share with you my July Design Team Junk Journal project. I am always inspired by what I see other artists and junk journal makers create and this wee little book in a tin is something I’ve wanted to try for quite some time. As they say “Good things come in small packages.”
The Garden Party Bundle is so beautiful and I thought it was the perfect jumping off point for this grungy floral themed junk journal.
I find working in miniature so interesting & challenging. It forces me to think outside my creative box and to pay much closer attention to all the details.
I could never choose a favorite type of image, but I will say the botanical print images are at the top of my list. They are so versatile and can be used to create journaling cards, tags, pockets, tuck spots – you name it. I am particular to those botanical prints that have the flower’s Latin names on them. I have tucked several in this little chunky journal.
For color variety I’ve chosen botanical prints from the Yellow & Purple Botanicals, Pink Blue & Red Florals, and the 1840’s Floral Pairings Bundles.
I also went back to one of my favorite bundles: In the Garden. I think the labyrinth and garden structures images from that bundle are so unique. The textile wrap around style cover I created in a similar style to a snippet roll. I sewed bits and pieces of doilies and laces together, adding a green sari silk ribbon closure.
Inside the trinket tin I’ve used textiles and trims to create pockets and places to tuck ephemera.
I lined the bottom and inside cover of the tin with two of the 8 x 10 papers from the Garden Party Bundle.
The four lovely ladies from the Garden Party bundle can all be found in this journal too. I couldn’t leave any of them out. Printed them onto parchment paper pages.
Using images from the Cherry Blossoms Bundle I created a little collage in my word processing software – adding a few bees to a cherry blossom image.
I printed several of the laces and frames from the Vintage Paper Lace Bundle to create tiny tuck spots throughout the journal. I thought it was the perfect miniature alternative to using real laces and textiles.
