Gentleman’s Junk Journal
Hey, everyone! Sam Poole of Sam Poole Designs, one of our amazing Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a fabulous Gentleman’s Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Sam introduce herself, and tell you all about her lovely project…
Hello Everyone! My name is Sam Poole and I am so excited to share with you my second Graphics Fairy design team project.
My journal is very masculine in design with a hint of Steampunk. I imagine the gentleman who owned this journal was a very intelligent and elegant chap. He designed amazing architectural buildings and also loved to travel around Europe.
I was very inspired by the ‘Aeronautical Adventure’ bundle for my journal. The vintage imagery of the Hot Air Balloons are really fascinating and I love the pops of reds and blues amongst the ephemera.
The base of the journal has been made using a book image cover from the ‘Bohemian Ephemera’ bundle. I duplicated and flipped the image to create a front and back piece for my journal. This was then glued onto chipboard and distressed to create a faux book effect. I imagine this journal being sat upon a grand oak writing desk in his study amongst many curiosities.
The other bundle I really enjoyed using in this journal was the ‘Architectural Drawings’ bundle. I used many of the pre-made images as decorative pages throughout the journal.

Hello Karen, Sam mentions a tag booklet tutorial but I can’t find it can you please tell me where to look? This journal is absolutely gorgeous – thank you so much
Karen Watson says
Hi Anne, Sam’s tag booklet tutorial is actually an upcoming video that will be on our Premium site. I don’t think she realized it wouldn’t be published yet, when she made her Junk Journal video, so sorry about the confusion. It’s scheduled to be published on Monday March 15th, along with our newest Steampunk bundle, so keep your eye out for it! 🎩
