We hope you will be totally inspired by this series! Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Anna tell you all about her wonderful project…
As the days are drawing smaller and we are closing to autumn in this corner of the world, I keep getting this overwhelming feeling of gratitude for having beautiful seasons that flow into each other with colors blending and smells and thoughts of things past and things to come!
I have been inspired by the Masquerade Ball bundle since the moment I first saw it but waited patiently for this time of the year, when it is darker and the masks come out.
I tried to create a Gothic appearance on the cover, as Gothic as it could get. Rustic golds and midnight blue featuring a stunning image from the Masquerade Ball bundle.
Bats and music tabs emerge from the top and the sides of the journal creating an unruly sensation, a book bursting with dark secrets and scary creatures that haunt the night.
Of course, a masquerade ball begins with an invitation. I chose a journal cover to house the invitation and I included a menu.
Marbled papers adorn the inside cover of the invitation booklet as endpapers and they also do on the actual journal. The colors are subtle with lots of reds and blues to match the covers.
A ballet program is folded discreetly in a tuck spot to remind the owner of the journal that there are a few more delights planned for this special occasion.
I have created a frame with a window made from cheesecloth to keep the portrait hidden away and mysterious. The image that I used is also from the Masquerade Ball bundle. The colors of the images are a deep red and black and they tie in with the masquerade.
There are images of disguised guests dispersed in the journal and some of them look like they are dressed up while others seem like ghosts who mix with the crowd adding to the Gothic atmosphere.
French fashion ladies were added to this project because I wanted to add more elegance and style in the ball and the disguises.
I hope that you will enjoy this Gothic journal. Look after yourselves and enjoy crafting and using these wonderful bundles.

I don’t know which I enjoyed more.. the exquisite gothic tome — or listening to the artist, who, in her delicate manner of speech and elegant vocabulary seems not unlike a character that sprung from the distressed pages and came to life.
