Jane Austen Style Junk Journal
Hey everyone. Robin Dudley Howes, one of our amazing NEW Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a fabulous Jane Austen Style Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Robin tell you all about her lovely project…
Hi everyone it’s Robin here, back again! This month I wanted to make a Christmas themed journal with Jane Austen as the theme but as often happens, my ideas morph into something different, although I did manage to use some of the Graphics Fairy Jane Austen Embroidery bundle. It’s one of my favorite bundles and for some reason makes me think of the holidays.
This junk journal that I made has some fun elements to it and is a little different. The journal cover is made of fabric that I pieced together along with some lace.. It’s narrow, about 4 inches wide and 9 inches long but has very thick 2 inch binding, made into a folio because I wanted to add a box to hold notions, Altoid tin, a junk journal and a expandable folder insert.
The Yellow Ephemera bundle has some beautiful Jane Austen graphics as well and I used the Altoid Tin printables to create a needle case which will be added to the box. The metal tags have the Jane Austin embroidery graphics glued onto them with bulb pins and string ready to hang along with some felted wool, antique crochet medallion and pins.
I couldn’t resist using the newest GF Pastel Christmas bundle which gives this journal a hint of the holidays. I cut out several of the angel tags and added them to a double pocket on a signature.
The Victorian Christmas bundle has gorgeous graphics and I fussy cut this adorable angel and glued her to a mini book with glass glitter.
Here is a shot of the little notions box lined with vintage music paper and 2 matchboxes with buttons and vintage lace. The Altoid tin cover has graphics from the Yellow Ephemera bundle.
Next to the box is an envelope that I made from card stock that has been dry brushed with gesso and then covered with paper from GF European Ephemera bundle which I LOVE! Inside are 5 expandable envelopes that hold more ephemera. I have made a lace snippet band and attached it to the outside, tied with organdy:
Adding a vintage silk rose makes anything look romantic, wouldn’t you agree?
And birds, can’t help but use those!
Thanks Graphics Fairy, for allowing me to use your library of beautiful graphics and digital collages. The possibilities are endless!
