Pack Rat Junk Journal – Nik the Booksmith
Hey guys, Nik the Booksmith is back this month with another marvelous Junk Journal to share with you guys! I hope you are enjoying this Design Team series. I love how each of the designers has their own style and brings their own expertise with the projects that they have been sharing. Each unique journal is just bursting with wonderful Vintage Inspiration! And Nik’s Pack Rat Journal is no exception, she has added so many delightful elements to this wonderful artistic Journal. This month, I decided to shop through the Graphics Fairy Membership site and choose some images that spoke to my mood. This textile covered journal was created in my Pack Rat style of junk journal.
The Pack Rat is a hodge podge menagerie of images, found objects, collage, ephemera and needlework to create, in the end, a book overflowing with the cherished memories of a life well lived. {The little mini notebook in the photo above, is also included in this Journal}
The cover of this journal has been fashioned with textiles, modern and vintage, hand stitching, bead work, laces and trims.
Here is a photo of the back cover, showing lots more fabrics and stitching. The fabric has been stained to give it a time worn aged patina. 
The closure is actually a charm bracelet clip that can be easily removed and charms can be added to the bracelet, as desired. The charm bracelet is attached by 2 metal hinged paper clips on either side for ease of opening. If you look closely you will see a little metal key as well.
Inside, you will find many pockets, tuck spots, a folio and an airmail envelope, created from the Junk Journal Bundle, to house memories for years to come. There’s even a little something extra tucked inside the envelope.
I’ve printed some of the images that I found in the membership section onto muslin. This Violets Album page, along with the antique photo of the girl in the plaid dress, is an example of the printed muslin images. This effect adds warmth and a textural element along side the tea-stained pages. {You can also see that little paper notebook, tucked in a pocket behind the muslin girl.}

I have never really used website provided images because I was not sure of copyright issues and if images can be used in journals or ephemera to be sold on sites like etsy.
