Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Dody introduce herself, and tell you all about her incredible project…
I am so excited to share my second Graphics Fairy Journal with everyone. My Name is Dody Williams and I have been making journals since 2010 and “junk” (I hate that word) journals since 2015. I call this journal La Demoiselle. I took my inspiration from an image in the Tattered Treasures bundle. This journal is full of subtle uses of Graphics Fairy blank paper ephemera and book covers. The spine is made using the Image from Tattered Treasures and re-working it into the spine. The base of the cover comes from the Typesetter Bundle and is the blank notebook cover which I used for both the front and back.
I built up the cover by choosing a lovely young woman from the Antique Portraits 2 bundle and combined her photo with a photo frame from the Mini French Ephemera bundle to give the impression herm photographer was Parisian!
This journal is constructed with many pockets and tuck spots for the La Demoiselle’s collection of memorabilia. The first pocket when opening the journal is lace and I filled it with faux “old” postcards printed on the front and back. I also made the forward facing pocket from a lovely image from the Rose is a Rose bundle.
Throughout this journal, I printed out my papers front and back using many different blank papers from the Vintage Paperie bundle. I use the many old, foxed blank papers offered in various bundles all the time! I can’t say enough times how effective these papers are in creating an old, worn look. The picture of the young woman used here comes from the Yellow Ephemera bundle and colored her a bit and put her in another French photo frame. I think of her as my young lady’s best friend.
I love to make a double pocket in the middle of my signatures and then stuff them. This one I made using old lace, ruffled rice paper and corrugated cardboard. I have stuffed it full of cards and tags from various bundles and created a faux lithograph print which I finished with a pink wax seal.
I just love the patterns the GF supplies and I used the cahier notebook cover from The French Attic Ephemera bundle and re-colored it to match the color palette of my journal. I then used one of the pocket patterns on offer to make a twist tie pocket and clipped it to my page with a mini clamp.
In this picture you can see the bright blue corner of an envelope peeking out of the netting embellished tuck spot. I used two images from the Mini Ephemera bundle which I surmised were actually two sides of an Au Bon Marche needle packet. I put them together as an envelope and love the result!
8.In the center of the journal, I created a place to secure a mini writing journal. I used a pattern I have for a small Scout Book notebook and made a cover from the sewing pamphlet cover you can find in the Sewing Ephemera bundle. This little journal can be removed and written in as all the pages are blank!
This particular picture shows a valentine I made using multiple valentine bundles. In my imagination, young ladies at a finishing school would trade valentines and in the 19th century, they would have involved lace and pretty paper! I pinned it to the page using a rusty pin. I remember my grandmother who was born in 1900, pinning paper bits to each other and I wanted to incorporate this old method somewhere in my journal.
The final picture is another signature middle section and features paper I designed using several GF bundle images, lots of coffee filter ruffles and some of my favorite GF images, such as the VIOLET soap card, which is one of my very favorites!

Gorgeous!!!! What do you call those things that look like brads mounting the photo and where do you get them?
Dody says
Thank you so much! The photo is actually glued to cardboard (I think corrugated) and the brads are from Michaels – they are I think recollections?I have had them for awhile, but I do think. you can still get them!
