Ladies Keepsake Junk Journal
Hey everyone. Beth, from Beth’s Journal Boutique, one of our amazing NEW Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a fabulous Ladies Keepsake Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…you can scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Beth introduce herself, and tell you all about her lovely project…
Hi everyone, I’m Beth, from Beth’s Journal Boutique, and I’m thrilled to have been chosen to be a member of the Graphics Fairy Design Team for Fall 2019/2020. I’ve been creating junk journals for the past 5 years, typically in a vintage shabby style, although I sometimes like to venture into a fun retro design. My journals have many details and layers, but I always like to leave lots of space for memory keeping and journaling.
Wanting this journal to look like an authentic old book, I started by making a chipboard cover and then added the old book cover image from the Bohemian bundle. the journal’s closure is simple seam binding and lace.
Adding vintage floral wallpaper on the inside front and back covers, as well as in a few spots in the journal for pockets and pages, has enhanced the vintage, time worn look of this journal.
I like to add interest to the side of my journals, using lace, trims, ruffles and buttons.
I’ve used vintage letters and envelopes, mixing them with Graphics Fairy printable Ephemera. The images blend beautifully with the real ephemera.
Printable ephemera and papers, from the Membership site, made it easy to pull together this vintage shabby ladies keepsake journal!

I love the vintage journal! Do you create/decorate pages first and then put together the journal or you create the binding/journal first and decorate each page? Would love to know, thanks for sharing.
Beth says
Thanks so much! I create and sew my pages into the binding first and then decorate. Hope that helps.

I love this journal, Beth! It’s so beautiful and the cover, wow, I would never have guessed it was a printable, it looks so authentic!

so pretty-I have been collecting vintage ephemera for a couple of months and want to make a journal but am afraid I will mess up all the cool stuff I have accumulated. Every time I see a junk journal I get more ideas as to what I want to do. I love your floral papers which I think is wallpaper-great idea and the cute tabs on the page edges.

Thanks so much!
