Hey Guys! As promised we are back this week with crafter Chris Roy. This week Chris is going to show us how to…
Make Felted Wool Eyeballs and a Display!
You may recall last week when she showed us how to make Felted Wool Balls HERE … well today we are going to build on that in order to create this super fun Halloween Craft Project and Display.

SUPPLIES
- 8 Felted Wool Balls (You can make them with these instructions HERE)
- Felt Wool Roving (Select colors for the Iris, pupils, and red for bloodshot effect if desired)
- Felting Needles
- Felting Foam Pad (Optional but useful for future projects with your leftover wool)
- Green Florist wire
- Paper towel roll
- Masking Tape
- Green Moss
- Hot Glue
Step 1: Make 8 White, or Cream, Felt Wool Balls according to the Easy Tutorial HERE. Or you can cheat and buy some ready made ones HERE.
Step 2: Pick small amounts of color for the iris and pupil (see photo for perspective)
Step 3: Poke needle up and down until fibers felt together. (For even more detailed instruction on Needle Felting Techniques, see the Needle Felting Video at the bottom of this post)
Step 4: Decorate each ball to resemble an eyeball by needle felting an iris and pupil on each ball.
Have fun with this process and try different combinations. Some may be bloodshot, or feline, etc
Step 5: Twist florist’s wire in half, and insert sharp end into the eyeball. (a dot of glue can be used for extra stability)
Step 6: Poke 8 tiny holes in a row on one side of the paper towel tube and insert eyeball stems into holes.
Step 7: Tape around the base of wires at the paper towel tube to strengthen.
Step 8: Use your Hot Glue Gun to attach the moss to the tube until it is covered completely.
Aren’t these so fun!
I hope you enjoyed this wonderfully creative Tutorial by Chris, I can hardly wait to Make some Wool Felt Eyeballs of my own! I think this Halloween Display would look fabulous in a foyer or somewhere near the front door, to great Tricker Treaters that stop by on Halloween. It would also be a perfect addition to a Table Display for a Halloween Party.
If you would like additional instruction for needle felting, I found this video that shows dry needle felting techniques in even more detail, that should answer any questions that you may have and maybe will give you a few more ideas for future projects as well.
