Miss Ella’s Florist Journal
Hey, everyone! Angela Senechal of Maker Mom, one of our amazing Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a beautiful Miss Ella’s Florist Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Angela tell you all about her incredible project…
Hi everyone! I’m so happy to be here sharing my latest journal that I created using amazing graphics from the Graphics Fairy Premium Membership Site.
My inspiration for this “junky” journal came from one of the most recent themed bundles entitled, “The Florist.” I love how the graphics fairy incorporates fictional characters and stories
that go along with their bundles. I imagined Miss Ella Baines being very busy as she had many requests for her beautiful floral arrangements and baskets. She sourced her flowers from the
countryside as well as growing her own! Ella’s journal was something she carried around with her as she liked to keep pictures of different arrangements that inspired her, color palettes that she dreamed of, and some of her favorites that she arranged for herself and for friends and family.
For the cover, I used a very old book and included a graphic from the “Naturalist’s Library” collection on the front. For the closure, I used florist wired ribbon and tucked in a dyed doily. I
adhered vintage garden pages on the inside covers. There is a hidden spine with three signatures inside. Most pages are authentic vintage pieces and I imagined them being
documentation of other parts of Ella’s life such as ledger sheets that she used to record her sales, railway pieces from her travels, and floral arrangement pages from her favorite books!
Let’s open Ella’s journal and take a tour!
You’ll find numerous floral arrangements throughout that I turned into journaling cards simply by adding brown or white shipping packaging.
Miss Ella liked to recycle and would use the thicker pieces for wrapping up her bouquets!
There is a picture of Miss Ella in a beautiful floral frame (included in the “Vintage Album Frames” bundle) as well as a picture of her actively selling to her loyal customers.
Using a tutorial that is on the membership site, I created a hidden journaling spot. There is plenty of space for writing as well as pockets for storing Ella’s swatches!
There are a couple envelopes that Ella kept on hand to use for correspondence. All of these can be found by typing “envelopes” in the search bar on the site. I also used a wallpaper piece from
the Florist kit to create an envelope. So many options!
For additional notetaking, I used a metal brad to hold several pieces of pretty paper together. Simple and functional for on-the-go journaling!
I hope you enjoyed taking a glimpse of Ella’s journal! Be sure to check out the video tour for other hidden treasures.

Angela – What a lovely journal, love this style. It has the appearance of a journal that she would have used and carried with her daily. I love your selection of the different selections you choose from the GF kits. There are so many wonderful selections that sometimes gets a bit overwhelming. Can you please tell me what material was used to make the page that you mounted the picture of her selling flowers? I love the texture that this gives but it still looks soft. Thank you sharing this beautiful journal. Pamela A/PA

Thank you so much, Pamela, for taking the time to comment on Miss Ella’s journal! She was a joy to create!
That particular piece is a dryer sheet (not used 😉) and was rust dyed. It was included in a paper pack that I purchased on Etsy.
Blessings,
Angela
