Needlework Junk Journal
Hey, everyone! Angela Senechal of Maker Mom, one of our amazing new Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a beautiful Needlework Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Angela tell you all about her incredible project…
The colder months call for sewing! Slow stitching is a favorite pastime. So, it was easy to decide on the theme for this journal. I started with a vintage quilt piece and added a simple blanket stitch around the edge to create a border. There were a lot of sewing graphics available for me to use on the Graphics Fairy Premium Membership site…including a sewing box!!! I simply cut, glue and voila!
I filled the box with a few sewing notions as well as tags. I think it will make a great addition to the journal.
The inside covers have handstitched pockets filled with sewing treasures and keepsakes. I used a lot of original vintage pieces as well as advertisements.
Of course, I had to add sewing pattern papers throughout along with textiles…fabric pockets, laces, and buttons!
I loved incorporating pops of blue and red. This red background with the bird, thread, and home sewing piece can all be found on the Graphics Fairy Premium Membership site. Be sure to look at the list below for all the bundles I pulled from.
Possibly one of my favorite pages in the journal is the button card along with the sewing machine advertisement. I added a fabric measuring tape piece to tie it all together.
I think every journal I create includes at least one photograph from the membership site. I always like including a story within the pages. This journal includes a picture of two sisters who both enjoy needle crafts and making gifts for family and friends.
There are several advertisements for sewing machines and thread in the journal. I printed some on newsprint paper which gives them a great vintage look and feel. I used other advertisements to create tags, pockets, and journaling cards.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the tour of my sewing/needlecraft journal! I will be posting this journal for sale on my Instagram (link below) shortly!
