Paris Ephemera Junk Journal
Hey, everyone! Heather Naggy of Ruby and Pearl xo, one of our amazing Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a fabulous Paris Ephemera Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Heather tell you all about her lovely project!
Hello! I hope you are all having a good day today. I am sharing my February design team project for The Graphics Fairy Membership site today. This month I was feeling a bit uninspired, and I wasn’t sure what I wanted to create, but sure enough The Graphics Fairy released a new bundle called the Mini French Ephemera bundle and I knew that was the inspiration. I am always inspired by gorgeous French ephemera as I know many of you are too!
The journal itself is created from an antique book. It was falling apart so I took out the pages and lovingly rebuilt the spine. I extended it to make room for all of the bits and treasures that go into creating a junk journal. I used a piece of an antique collar that I had picked up at a flea market for $1 to run down the spine and to join the extended piece to the original spine. I think it looks so nice together with the gorgeous gold detail of the book. The collar had the tiniest ruffle of lace and it adds a lot of interest when you look at the spine. I am really happy with how that turned out. I think it would be so pretty sitting on the shelf.
I decorated the cover with a gorgeous piece of vintage Indian sari silk. It is so beautifully embroidered and is the most gorgeous and striking shade of pink. It really went well with the blue book and tiny white ruffle. It added so much sparkle that I couldn’t stop looking at it as I walked by. I created a little tag from the new French ephemera bundle to attach to the closure for added interest. I am in love with the deep blue Paris script on that piece. One of my favorite parts of the journal is the stunning antique blue rhinestone jewelry piece I added to dangle on the outside of the pages. Together with the colorful ruffles and tabs = all the things I love!
I used the mini French ephemera pieces throughout the journal as well as some other French pieces from the Graphics Fairy. I also used some of the sheet music on the site as some of my pages that I bound into the book. One of them is blank sheet music so I thought it would be so nice for journaling on the pretty and unique lines. I love the way it looks.
This journal has many tucks and pockets… bits and pieces… a dash of sparkle and lots of pretty colors to liven up the gray skies outside right now. I hope you enjoy the flip through and I will see you next month.
