Pretty Floribunda Junk Journal
Hey, everyone! Kate Stevens of Pixie K Designs, one of our amazing NEW Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a pretty Floribunda Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Kate introduce herself, and tell you all about her incredible project…
Hi, I’m Kate from Pixie K Designs in New Zealand and it is my pleasure to present to you my first design team project for The Graphics Fairy. It is Spring here in the Southern Hemisphere and I was inspired to go all out with a floral theme for this journal.
The journal itself is constructed from heavy board and covered with a beautiful vintage floral furnishing fabric which is one of my favorites. Once I had decided on the theme of this journal I spent a lot of time searching the Graphics Fairy Premium site for images, bundles and printables that fitted in with my idea of Floribunda. I chose the beautiful image on the cover from the Roses and Bees bundle and created a very 3D cover piece with the antique tulle and the flowers that I had in my stash. The cover leaves the viewer in no doubt as to the theme of the journal.
As well as the cover image and some of the rose images from the Roses and Bees bundle I also used one of the printables from this bundle. I had seen and followed a tutorial on The Graphics Fairy making postcards with this bundle and I had made some of these to go in this journal. I layered one of the postcards from the printable onto an expandable file folder and put that inside the front cover of the journal to place things into. I loved how this looks layered with the blue French document from the French Attic Ephemera bundle when you open the journal.
Inside the journal you will find a wide variety of papers making up the pages including vintage book pages, vintage and antique papers, scrapbooking papers, butter paper, hand dyed papers, and fabulous images from The Graphics Fairy Premium site.
I love vintage wallpaper and used images from the Cottage Wallpaper bundle in 4 of the 5 signatures. Some printed onto matte Epson presentation paper and some onto lightly coffee dyed paper for a more muted effect.
There are many fussy cut roses throughout this journal used both singly or clustered together as on the large journal insert. For the fussy cuts I used images from the Roses and Bees bundle and the Victorian Scrap Roses bundle.
I am in no way proficient with Photoshop Elements and I am really enjoying having a play and learning some basic photoshop skills from the tutorials on The Graphics Fairy premium site. A small amount of the pages and ephemera in the journal are made using basic photo shop skills and some images from the site. For example the pink French document with the roses and the Italian journaling card also with the roses are from the European Ephemera bundle and the roses are from the Romantic Roses bundle.
This journal has a very distinctive vintage romantic feel and I am so happy with how it turned out. I hope you will find some inspiration within on how you too can use these beautiful bundles of images in your own creations.
