Secret Garden Junk Journal
Hey everyone. Design Team member Anna Hollingworth of Leximbue Journals created a fabulous Secret Garden Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series! Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Anna tell you all about her wonderful project…
Within these pages creep fairies and wild birds, climbing vines and secret messages. Like an intricate garden gate, opening into a thrilling world where anything is possible.
Footsteps that crunch the leaves underneath, on the forest bed, join the whispers in the wind and traverse along in the secret garden.
I have chosen a print of an old fairy book cover which I found in the Peacock Hues bundle for the cover of this journal. I imagined that the owner of this journal would love the fairy theme for a Secret Garden book.
The journal cover states in its simplicity all the delights that are hidden inside to be discovered while turning the pages. I printed the front and the back covers on textured paper and they feel like soft fabric to the touch. I embellished the spine with gold engraving that looks like a vine swirling around it.
Opening the journal, the endpapers transfer one to a rustic burnt yellow environment with dancing fairies hiding underneath the pockets. A fox on a bookmark is curled on the page with a woodland quote to lift the spirit.
I have collected a few images and created an assemblage with a bit of greenery that slips out on the edge of the journal.
A single yellowed page from a book is being safeguarded behind transparency so that one can still be able to see it while turning the pages. It also serves as a pocket for those special notes.
William Morris designs in deep blue and green blend in with the forest theme beautifully when printed on tea and coffee stained papers adding to the rustic effects.
I tried to create a journal that would serve as a companion to long woodland walks and searches for unusual treasures waiting to be discovered.
It was such a pleasure creating this book.
