Vintage Spooky Weather Vane Images
Pictured above is a Vintage Witch Weather Vane Image! This old Engraving shows such an unusual looking Weather Vane with a witch riding on a quarter Moon. She has her broom in the ready position to sit on for flight over her shoulder. There is some scrollwork along the center with a cap of what resembles a devil’s pitchfork. I wonder if it was made for a witch’s roof? I have never seen one like this before! I’m sure it would be quite a rare piece if you could find one today!
I love this old Moon Weather Vane Image! The Vintage Engraving above features several quarter Moon shapes. The Moons decorating the top have faces carved in them. There is an ‘S’ and ‘N’ in the middle of the image representing both South and North. The arrow has an Acanthus leaf pattern that is so cute!
Pictured here is a Dragon Weather Vane Image! Another Vintage Engraving from the Rare Architectural Metal Company Catalog, this one features a large winged dragon clinging to a ball at the top. He looks quite fierce and intimidating! In addition to the dragon, there appears to perhaps be an image of the Sun with a face. A tremendous amount of skill and patience most certainly would have been necessary to create this amazing work of art!
Featured above is a very Fancy Weather Vane indeed! This Vintage Engraving looks to me like it might have adorned a castle in the time of Henry the 8th! The Vane appears to have delicate scrollwork with some floral elements. The direction arrows feature a ‘W’ and an ‘E’ for West and East on this one. There is also a Monogram “M” made to look like a flag or banner on the top of it. Perhaps it was for Mary his daughter.
I hope you enjoyed this fun curated collection of Spooky Weather Vane Images!! You might also like the 250+ Images in our Halloween Archives HERE or the Over 85 Images in our Architecture Archives HERE!

Hi Karen,
These are amazing! The Vintage Witch Weather Vane is special. When would you see ‘the master of broom-manship’ be ready for anything like this one? She is on a mission!! She sure seems comfortable sitting on that crescent moon and I love it!
The Old Moon Weather Vane is also interesting! The main character is in good company with the four others sitting on top. I love crescent moons towards the end of summer all through the following months.
The Dragon Weather Vane has a blustery dragon who is ready to penetrate the wind. I like the addition of the bold, fearless face of the Sun. I think the combination representing heat make a great combination.
The Fancy Weather Vane is pretty neat – I think it looks the most ornate with a lot of the scroll work. For any one of these with so much detail, I can’t imagine the hours and days of labour that went in to these designs! All are very unique and very much appreciated, Karen!
Thanks so much for taking the time to share these with us!
Have a wonderful weekend and as always, keep safe as possible!
