Spring Fairies Junk Journal
Hey everyone. Design Team member Anna Hollingworth of Leximbue Journals created a fabulous Spring Fairie Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series! Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Anna tell you all about her wonderful project…
This journal is a happy home for garden fairies. They have come out of their hiding spots this spring, to enjoy the delicate blossoms and the fluttering butterflies. I chose this beautiful cover of willow green and gold from the bundle. It looks just like a vintage book, and I added faded gold accents to frame and enhance it.
I have collected spring blossoms and fairies, of all sizes and temperaments to fill this journal! I have attached silk ribbons onto wings and pinned them over the top and sides of the book, creating colorful flow and movement.
Cheeky fairy faces are peeking out from the edges of the journal along with large wings that serve as tuck spots and pockets.
On the inside cover I have loosely attached a fairy who is welcoming one, to this mystical garden.
The picture of the cutest little fairy sitting on a rock is tucked into this cutout of gorgeous mushrooms.
A little fairy is attached onto a washi strip so that she can slip in and out of the gazebo from the top. I cut around the intricate drawing and attached acetate windows. The page is edged with washi of garden fountains that has been printed on sticker paper. Both the intricate gazebo and the washi come from the Garden Club Tour bundle.
Birds are flying over cherry blossom trees, an image that I chose from the Sage Meadows bundle and a lovely lady is enjoying the beauty of the scenery.
In this idyllic garden scene, a fairy is peeking through an acetate window, framed by a a antique willow colored frame from the French Newspapers and Ephemera bundle.
Turning the page, one sees the cover of a bee magazine from The Beekeeper’s Cottage which also serves as background to the fairy frame. A flying fairy with red wings is on the top and gives the impression that she is hovering over the page.
I am very fond of the oversized green butterfly from The Lepidopterist bundle, which I have pinned on this page and she moves around, securing a fairy image. All the large butterflies have been glazed so that they can be protected from tearing. They also shine beautifully as they are enhanced by the extra texture of the glaze.
I chose this light blue linen fabric advertisement and added a fairy image on the edge of the page. A bright blue butterfly from the Japanese Garden bundle serves as a tuck spot. A mini fairy folder with pastel blues completes the page.
I printed an oversized flower from the Chelsea Flower show bundle, attached it on the edge of the page as a tuckspot and slipped inside a vintage photo of a fairy. I love the elegant shape of this flower as it lies against the coffee dyed page.
I cannot get enough of the magic that I find in the bundles from the premium membership site. With a new one added every week, I am always excited about what I am going to find next. Spring has suddenly arrived and I tried to fit into this journal as much of its beauty as I could. And I found plenty of this beauty in these images.
Thank you so much for reading this. I hope you enjoy the video!
