Floral tattered treasures flip flop journal Hi everyone! I’m Beth from Beth’s Journal Boutique and am thrilled to be part of the spring/summer 2023 design team for The Graphics Fairy! I have been creating junk journals for the past 9 years, typically in a vintage shabby style although I sometimes like to venture into a fun retro design. My journals have many details and layers but I always like to leave lots of space for memory-keeping and journaling.
For my project this month I created a flip-flop journal. I have been seeing these all over YouTube recently and wanted to give one a try. These journals are created using envelopes for the base; this is such a fun idea with so many possibilities for size and the way the journal can fold. It’s a great way to use up all those envelopes we get in the mail! After deciding on the style of the journal I wanted to create, I started to look through the bundles on the premium membership site for inspiration and wow there is a lot! I found a few bundles that I wanted to use and I have listed them at the end for you.
I created this journal using three large and one small envelope, then covered them with collaged background papers and sewed signatures into the folds on the front and back of the journal construction. You can see just how fun these journals are, with all the layers that are visible once the papers and trims are added. These journals can hold a lot and with the journaling spots, tags and papers added, they have lots of space to add memories.
The inside of the front envelope was backed with vintage ledger paper and then a variety of paper scraps were added to create a little writing pad. On the right side I clipped a full size printable book cover that can be used as a large journaling spot. I have added several full size journaling spots to this journal and I like the interest they add to the overall look of the journal.
Having cut the top and bottom of the front envelope to create a flip out, I put a pocket on each side and added ephemera and tags from the Parisian Pinks bundle along with a fussy cut vase of flowers; this was a fun way to use this image and I love the way this unique journaling spot turned out. There are so many beautiful floral images on the Graphics Fairy site – I just searched “flowers” and there were so many to choose from.
I have added a photo from the Florist bundle along with a tag made from the paper strips printable from the Parisian Pink bundle. These different types of journaling spots are a great way to add visual interest to a project.
I have backed a flower seller image with craft paper and added it to a tag with a sari ribbon bow. Placing this in a baking paper pocket with a vintage doily is another way of adding texture and visual interest.
Here I have printed one of the floral images at 100% and fussy cut part of the image to make a pocket.
Multiple journaling spots and tags in one pocket add lots of extra journaling space and interest to the journal. This is another way to use one of the floral vase images I found.
There are so many pretty touches in this journal and a variety of different ways to add journaling space.
I had such fun creating this journal and I think I will be making more of this style! There are endless creative possibilities with these journals and I hope you will give one a try!

A beautiful journal this is. Can you please tell me in which bundle I can find the ‘old paper printables’? And I would also like to know where I can find these beautiful vintage vases with flowers (want to use these images in a next journal). I searched everywhere, but cannot find them. Beth says that she did a little search on the site for flowers and found them…………….
It would be great to be able to find this bundle and these flowers in vases. Thank you in advance.

Hi Tineke, The vases can actually be found here on the blog, here is the link https://thegraphicsfairy.com/floral-vase-images/ We don’t actually have a bundle called “old paper printables”. I believe she is talking about the 2 Tattered Treasure Bundles that we have on the premium site. If you do a search for “Tattered” using the search box on the Premium site, they should both come up for you. I hope that helps!
