Tea Party Junk Journal
Hey guys, once again one of our fabulous Junk Journal Design Team Members, Terri Kolte, has created a fabulous junk journal for us. As you know, we are featuring one new Junk Journal each week created by our team of talented artists. Our goal is that you be totally inspired by this series! Terri created a fun Tea Party Junk Journal! Be sure to check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…you need to scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired?
And now I will let Terri tell you about her project in her own words…
You’re never too old for a tea party. Hi! It’s Terri from The Gypsy Magpie and I’ve got a traveler’s notebook insert with a bit of a “tea” theme to share with you today.
I actually have TWO to share, as the insert kept growing and growing- making it a bit too large to easily use as a single insert. So we’ve got a little ‘two for one’ going on!
The images were gathered from a variety of bundles on the Premium Member site but the bulk of them were primarily from ‘Watercolor Tea Cups’, ‘Black and White Apothecary’ and’Poppies and Daisies’.
Layering colorful tea cups on top of the crisp b&w apothecary labels gave me the perfect spot to stamp a date or add a title for any page they embellish. The paper Washi strips mixed
beautifully with real Washi I already had in my stash. Washi addiction is real over here!
I love using butterflies in my journals and think I may have found a new favorite- this gorgeous green butterfly came from ‘Holiday Pantomime’. The title of the bundle gave no hint to the wonderful discovery inside! It’s fun to add some dimension to butterfly bodies with different types of embellishments. This time is used some enamel numbers and elastic cord for the antennae. Other things that work are bookplates, tiny bulbs (yes, really!), buttons, word charms. If you can’t find the tiny elastic cord, try using baker’s twine or wire.
These inserts will most likely be used for lists or project details. There is plenty of blank space to add writing but I can also squeeze a few sketches or photos in there, too. I love learning how others use their TN’s or junk journals. After squirreling away most of mine for years because I just didn’t want to ‘mess them up’ I have finally overcome the fear of imperfection. The beautiful journals that others have created- that ones I swoon over- are FULL of writing, filled with their hopes and dreams and ideas. And also the every day bits of their every day lives. There are misspelled words crossed out, there are photos of the average, everyday lives they lead. They aren’t perfect and yet, they are beautiful and real. That was the light bulb moment that changed everything for me. The beauty really is in the ordinary.
What about you? Are you ‘saving’ them for the perfect project or do you just dive in and fill them up?
Come, let us have some tea and continue to talk about happy things while we sit and fill up our journals with our every day beautiful lives.
