Tuscan Wine Junk Journal
Hey guys, once again one of our fabulous returning Junk Journal Design Team Members, Lynne Morgado, has created an amazing junk journal for us. She shares her incredible Tuscan Wine Junk Journal with you! Each week we spotlight another Mixed Media project, created by one of the amazing Designers on our team. The designers are tasked to use images from our Premium Membership Site to provide inspiration for your own projects. Be sure to check out her Show and Tell Video below. Please scroll down to the end of this post to see her video. Be prepared to be inspired! I will now allow Lynne to tell you all about her art in her own words…
Hello everyone! I am very happy to be back to tell you about my May Design Team project. The inspiration for this project began with the Taste of Tuscany Bundle. Italy is a travel destination that I have had on my wish-list for a very long time. I hope I will get there someday, but until then I can pretend a little. I really enjoyed creating this Italy & wine themed traveler’s notebook style journal.
In the Taste of Tuscany bundle are ready made journal pages that The Graphics Fairy team has created. They are so lovely and they are standard traveler’s notebook (TN) size. I initially was going to make a typical traveler’s notebook style junk journal which usually has one signature. As I was gathering up my images and pages I realized that with everything I wanted to include the journal would definitely have more than one signature. The journal is still the standard traveler’s notebook size which is 8.25”h x 4.33” w, but with three signatures. I have always loved this size journal. It’s so easy to tuck in your bag to take with you on adventures or to sit at a café and journal.
I created the cover using a tea dyed linen tablecloth and lined it with a green floral paisley fabric. The image of the woman on the cover is from The Winery Bundle.
Using both The Winery and the Taste of Tuscany bundles as a jumping off point I knew I wanted images with rich, bright colors and lots of fruits and flowers. I was thinking about how flavors are described with notes of fruits and sometimes flowers, as well as wanting beautiful colors to inspire journaling. The Berries and Cherries & the Botanical Fruit Bundles have beautiful journaling cards and pockets ready to print and cut.
Some of the pages as well as pockets, belly bands and tuck spots I created using images from the Heritage Wallpaper Bundle. The patterns & colors were perfect for this theme.
The collaged paper printables from The Winery Bundle are amazing and I created a few pages with those as well.
Several of the individual images available in the Taste of Tuscany bundle I printed directly onto the parchment paper pages.
These images of fruits, flowers and even a wild pig can give a plain page a pop of color and still leave room for some journaling.
I printed the two gorgeous Florentine frame images from the Taste of Tuscany bundle onto presentation paper (which is just a little lighter weight than cardstock). I used them to frame portions of an image of Italy from the same bundle. They can be left as is, but I’ve left them open on one side and a photo could also be tucked in.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my project. Please stop by and watch my flip through video on The Graphics Fairy YouTube Channel. I have more to show you.
