11 Vintage Birthstone Images
Here is a new collection that I am starting today and I will be adding more to it soon. It’s a set of Vintage Birthstone Images. These would make such fun Birthday Cards or Gift Tags for someone that has a Birthday on the corresponding month that the image relates too. I have been on the hunt for more months of these cards, so that I can represent all 12 of them. They will be a mix of different types of images. Probably all of the cards had a complete set at one time, but it can be difficult to find complete sets in old Postcards like these. Anyway, perhaps you will find it more fun to have a variety. Or who knows, over time, they may all surface … we shall see! Either way it’s fun collecting this type of thing and I hope you have fun creating with them as well.
Spring Birthstone Images
Here is the latest addition to this collection. This is the March Birthday Image. It has some beautiful Violets and a sweet scene with a charming cottage. The Birthstone at the time that this card was printed was Bloodstone. As you will see below, a number of the stones changed over the years. Today we go with Aquamarine, which sounds a lot nicer than Bloodstone, so maybe that’s one of the reasons that they changed it! I do think Aquamarine is a prettier stone too as far as jewelry goes, although the Bloodstone is quite interesting looking.
Well, unfortunately I haven’t yet acquired the April birthstone card, hopefully I will be able to add them here for you guys soon. I do have May though! And isn’t it lovely? Once again we have the Golden Horseshoe, this time it’s adorned with beautiful Green Emeralds. One of my favorite stones!
Summer Birthstone Pictures
I’m squeezing this one in just before the end of August as it just arrived in the mail! I know it’s not the birthstone that we use in modern times for this month, which is Peridot. But back in the early 1900’s Moonstone was used as August’s birthstone and I could not find any Vintage cards that had any other stone. I think it’s a lovely card at any rate and fun to see how things have changed over the years.
Here we have another golden Horseshoe, this one is for those with a birthday in July. It is studded with beautiful bright red Rubies! There is a lovely sentiment too for those with a birthday in this Summer month.
Here we have a June Birthday picture. The gemstone here is a lovely deep red Agate set in a gold setting with matching chain. The flower is Honeysuckle and we see the Crab for the Cancer sign as well. There is a very pretty Farm scene in the center!
Fall Birthstone Images
Here we have the October Birthstone card! This one features a cute little Oval Opal Stone which represents the word Hope. And apparently the flower of the month is Hops? Interesting choice! I guess that makes sense with Octoberfest and all. It could make a fun gift tag to attach to some Beer, as a gift for a friend or family member born in this particular month.
Make a sweet Handmade card to send to your friends with this charming antique postcard. Featured above are 2 darling children dressed in colonial clothing. Next to them is a necklace with a gold chain and a large oval Sapphire, for September’s birthstone. There’s a charming little poem inside of the chain.
Winter Birthstone Images
Here we have a February Birthday card. We have another gold Horseshoe only this time it has some pretty purple Amethyst stones on it. I could even see cutting out the purple gems here to use on a project, if you didn’t want to use the whole card. Inside of the Horseshoe is a bit of info about people born in February.
Next up we have the month of January. There is a lovely picture of a red gemstone necklace, that is set with Garnets for January’s Birthstone, and has a long Gold chain with additional stones on it. There is a charming pastoral scene in the background, complete with a cottage, church, snow, sheep and some Snowdrop flowers… and even a rainbow!
We’re starting off themed months with Winter, and to be even more specific, December. Which just happens to be my Birthday month! Featured above is a metallic Gold Horseshoe, that is encrusted with eight Turquoise Gems. There is a little bit of advice for December birthday people inside of the Horseshoe. You could punch up the metallic bits, by coloring those areas in with gold metallic ink, or adding some glitter. Pretty!
Birthstones of each Month
This is a fabulous Vintage Birthstones Image! What a fun find this one is! Shown above is an old Advertising Card featuring Birthstones for each month of the year. This one is an old Jewelry Store Advertising piece, for a Jewelry Store in New York. Aren’t the stones lovely? If you make Jewelry, this might be a fun piece to print and give away in your booth, or to add to your customer’s jewelry orders if you have an Etsy shop.

This is such a great collection, I’m glad you have opal for October, I have never seen the August one, its always peridot and while I like it, I know I will be on the lookout for SARDONYX FELICITY.
Thank you for your good work.

Thank you Leslie, I will keep adding more to this collection as I find them!

Uh I was born in June and my birthstone is supposed to be a pearl and the flower is supposed to be a rose (I member cuz I was like ‘yeah! I got the best flower out there is’) andddddd June is known for mostly being the astrological sign of a Gemini. Those ancient people got it all wrong, or the modern people did.
Karen Watson says
Thanks for the info Donna! My birthstone can be Turquoise or Zircon depending on the source. Perhaps they changed over the years, or maybe there were always different selections for each month this whole time. Hard to say. I will keep my eye out for a Pearl and Rose June card. 🌹

Hi Karen,
These are really pretty and a reminder of how some of the months had changed, such as mine in August.
Mine is Peridot but I also like the one they have to represent August’s as well.
Thank you for sharing this with us. We hardly see these kinds of images anymore.
