4 Hourglass Clipart

This is an interesting collection of vintage Hourglass Clipart. You guys would not believe how hard it is to find Hourglass images! One of these I have had on the blog for many years and the others are new finds. I searched high and low for many hours, through so many of my books and this is what I have come up so far. If I come across more I will add them to this collection at a later date. I think these ancient time pieces are just so cool to look at and the images make such a great motif for all sorts of creative crafts and projects. They are often used to depict the New Year, so perhaps you could use them for New Year’s Invitations, a cute New Year’s Eve Banner or for other related types of projects. These also work very well in Steampunk designs too as I’m sure many of you know already.

Antique Hourglass Clip Art

Some of my favorite books are the old children’s “Readers”, as they were called in the old days. I have several of them that date to before the Civil War, and they have such charming illustrations in them! Anyway, this cute Hourglass image is from one of those books. It’s a wonderful Classic looking version of this old time piece. Very elegant looking with it’s glass center piece and wooden frame.

I think this next one is pretty cool. It’s from an Antique book about clocks. The hourglass is set inside of a very ornate holder that appears to be made of metal. It looks like it has tiny Acorns on top, used as finials. I would love to find an old one like this to display in my home, but I imagine it would be pretty rare and pricey!

Retro Hourglass Icons

Next we have a fun little retro Hourglass. This one is done in Green, with Cream and Red Accents. It has a little banner along the top where you can write some text on it. There is also a scythe. This one is from an Antique Printers book in my collection. I found it in the New Years graphics section, so it was meant to be used in Holiday projects.

This last Hourglass Clip Art is more of a tiny little icon. It was from the same book, and the same section, as the one above it. It’s quite a simple black and white design with an oval frame around it. I think it would make a cute rubbers stamp! Or a digital stamp too for that matter.
