7 Whimsical Fish Illustrations
Today we have a fun collection of Whimsical Fish Illustrations! Below are several fascinating, ornamental black and white Fish Illustrations, including some Flying Fish and a Swordfish. Ornamental simply means that elements of the graphics are embellished or exaggerated, such as swirl or angular patterns. These are intended to enhance the artistic quality of the drawings. The fins and tails on some of the images have exaggerated lines and patterns. All are nice Fish Drawings to use in a Mixed Media Project. Perhaps you could add a Mermaid to the scene! I think all would be nice to use in your Family Vacation Scrapbook projects! They would also be a fun to color in!
Whimsical Fish Illustrations
Here is the latest addition to this collection. I’m adding another one of these guys to this post. I think his tail is quite Mermaid like!
Pictured above is a very interesting Whimsical Fancy Fish Image!! Scanned from a Circa 1896 Design Book filled with all sorts of fabulous illustrations! You don’t see Fish like this everyday! This guy has fins and tails that look like ornamental Acanthus leaves!
Pictured above is a fun Fancy Flying Fish Image! This fine image was also scanned from a Circa 1896 Design Book! You don’t see Fish like this one everyday! He also has Acanthus leaf looking fins and tails, which once again represents fine ornamental detailing. With wings held high, I assume he must be in flight. His mouth being wide-open, perhaps he is hungry and ready to pounce on his prey in the water!
Here is another fun Fancy Flying Fish Image! This guy is another great ornamental illustration of a Fish with embellished fins and tail. The wings on this one seem to be small and look more like leaves. The extra long center fin is interesting with a curly tail on the end!
Pen Flourished Fish
Don’t you just adore this Spencerian Pen Flourished Fish? Featured above is a gorgeous image from an early calligraphy book. The beautiful Pen Flourished Fish has the shape, head, and tail of a Bass, but the fins aren’t all anatomically accurate. This likely is a result of creating a more ornamental appearance of the Fish. The flourish under his head seems to be a hook. He looks determined to ignore the delightful morsel of food hanging from the hook. His body is curled away from the hook. Fun!
