Alice In Wonderland Junk Journal
Hey guys, once again one of our fabulous Junk Journal Design Team Members, Sheena from Luna Rozu, has created a fabulous junk journal for us. As you know, we are featuring one new Junk Journal each week created by our team of talented artists. Our goal is that you be totally inspired by this series! Sheena created a cool Alice in Wonderland Junk Journal project titled To My Sister–An Alice In Wonderland Envelope Collection. Be sure to check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…you need to scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired?
And now I will let Sheena tell you about her project in her own words…
To My Sister–An Alice In Wonderland Envelope Collection
Hello everyone! It’s Sheena once again from Luna Rozu. I created an envelope set with a theme that I’ve been wanting to work with – ‘Alice in Wonderland.’ Similar to how Charles Dodgson, a.k.a. Lewis Carroll, wrote the story for little Alice Liddell, this collection was created as a gift from an elder sister to her beloved younger sister who adores this cherished tale. Hence, I titled this deconstructed junk journal collection, To My Sister.
To create a textured effect on the envelopes, I used images from the Alice In Wonderland bundle. I printed smaller versions of the images. (9 images on a piece of coffee-dyed A4 sized paper.) And I basically tore around the images rather messily. Slight tears were made randomly on the edges and inked them for a distressed look.
Junk Journal Envelope Collection
For those who are wanting to design your very own envelopes from scratch, check out the Envelope and Pocket Templates bundle. I made use of the envelope templates to create this adorable envelope. These are combined with the Alice In Wonderland bundle images and brushes from the Script Ephemera 2 bundle. If you’re unsure of how to do this, The Graphics Fairy Premium Membership site also offers a comprehensive tutorial. So you’re all set!
Now, because this is a deconstructed junk journal, I filled the envelopes with beautiful printed ephemera. The final recipient can journal on the backs of them. These are just a few examples of collage sheets from Alice In Wonderland, French Ephemera and Transfers, and Spring has Sprung bundle sets. The playing cards were printed on kraft paper, distressed with ink, and painted with gold acrylic paint around the edges.
Alice in Wonderland Junk Journal Family
And finally, to bring the story behind this collection to life, I sourced the Victorian family photos from both the Antique Portraits bundle and the Antique Portraits 2 bundle. I found this darling little photo of a mother and her children, which included two little girls. One of them was holding a white bunny. There was also a letter I found in the Script Ephemera 2 bundle, which had a letter with the title ‘To my Sister.‘ How perfect is that!?
