Full Color Oak Leaves and Acorns
Shown above is an Over Cup Oak Leaf branch and Acorn, according to the title on the print. It’s a beautiful print from a Circa 1850’s book. I think prints like these, look lovely tucked under a glass cloche for some instant Fall decor!
Next up is a particularly beautiful cluster of Oak Leaves with some Acorns attached. This antique Botanical image comes from an 1890’s book. I love the bright vibrant colors on this. So pretty for Fall Projects or maybe Thanksgiving too!

This great Graphic was scanned from an 1890’s German Ornamental Design Book, in my collection. I think the simplicity of this image is very pleasing and it should work well in so many different projects. Check out how one of our readers used this image to create some custom Fall themed Napkins HERE. I’ve created several version of this one in different colors, you will find them below.

I am so enjoying your fall images and the skeleton keys as well.
My question….how do know when an image is either old enough to use, non copy written ( free of copyright), or in the public domain?
Your images this week are so outstanding. Thanks for sharing, once again.
Karen Watson says
Hi Sandi, I’m glad you enjoyed this week’s images! We have some links to Public Domain laws for the both the U.S. and other countries here https://thegraphicsfairy.com/terms-copyright/ You need to know the dates of your pieces in order to figure it out. As I was an Antique dealer of over 30 years, I’m pretty good at establishing the approximate age of most of my pieces, but I often do extensive research when it’s not obvious. I hope that helps!

What book is this from?
c says
i was wondering the same!
Karen Watson says
Hi C, these are from all different sources, some are from books, some are from an Antique Catalog, 1 is from an old advertisement and some are from old prints found at flea markets etc. I was an antique dealer for 30 years and I have hoards of paper and books in my collections. I sometimes use archived sources as well to round out a topic.
