12 Lion Images
Today we have a handsome collection of Lion Images! These big Cats are so majestic. All of the illustrations below display proud, strong lions who are such strikingly beautiful animals. We have some in black and white and others in full color, but all are splendid! One is truly surreal showing a lovely girl and lion with a pretty floral garland wrapped around its mane, who are surrounded by a colorful nature scene. There is even a constellation image of Leo connecting the dots of the stars seen in the night sky! These can be used for your Animal Themed Craft or DIY Projects.
Vintage Lion Images
Featured above is a Victorian Scrap piece showing a Gorgeous regal looking Lion! This proud, majestic Golden colored Cat is so amazing! He looks like a true “King of the jungle!”
Shown above is an illustration of two Beautiful Lions… a Male and a Female, taking a drink of water! This one was scanned from an 1880’s German Natural History Book.
Here’s a rather fierce looking wild cat. He has quite an intense gaze!
Above is a Vintage Primitive Lion Image! Scanned from a Circa 1879 German Natural History Book about Animals, this is a wonderful Lion having a little rest in the wilderness. He’s a bit rustic looking, and it seems like the proportions are off a bit on this one, but it does have a great old world look to it!
Black and White Lion Clip Art
Here we see our beautiful Big Cat, his profile is framed with an oval frame. This one was scanned from an Antique Pyrography book!
A wonderful Spencerian pen flourished Lion is seen above. It is a gorgeous image from an early calligraphy book. Such intricate detail on this one!
Here is a nice Public Domain Image! It was scanned from a rare, and early, Antique Printer’s book, Circa 1828. Featured is a wonderful Black and White Picture of a Lion walking on the ground. He appears to have just seen or heard something. This is somewhat primitive looking, but I like how bold it is. I think it may be a woodcut image. This would be a fun one to color in.
Above is a beautiful example of an almost full heraldic image consisting of shield, supporters, crest, and helmet on a wooden stand. The only thing that is missing is the motto, which usually wraps the bottom elements of the coat of arms. This Antique Coats of Arms with a Crest is a highly detailed, beautifully illustrated image featuring two magnificent lions on either side (they are the supporters) wrapped with scrolling acanthus leaves. They are roaring fiercely with mouths wide open. Their long curly manes and tails are just gorgeous with curling tufts of hair on the ends. The shield stands between the lions and has a pointed, leaf like bottom and a scroll top. Above the shield is the elaborate helmet showing vertical openings for seeing, a neck covering with a necklace and pendant, and intricate, fancy patterning. Above that could be a thin crown encircling a large white bird with a wide wing span and a curling neck with a menacing scowl and an open mouth. I believe this was a family of fighters who most likely were victorious in their battles!
Featured above is a fun Vintage March Lion Image! This one was scanned from my collection, a rare Circa 1941/1942 Printer’s Catalog. It appears that is growling loudly. So cute!
Scanned from a Circa 1890 Educational Book, this is a superb illustration of Leo. A nice Celestial image!

I love the constellation! Does the book contain all 12 zodiac constellations or just the Leo? It would be great to see them all.
Karen Watson says
Hi CJ, yes, there were others in the book. You can find 2 more on this search https://thegraphicsfairy.com/?s=astronomy I’ll try to dig out more to post in the future. Thanks for the suggestion!

Beautiful! All of my adult life, I’ve had recurring dreams about lions – usually that a lion is on the loose and about to discover me – yikes! Wonder what that means.
Karen Watson says
What an interesting dream Kari! It does make you wonder, doesn’t it?!
Deanna Schrayer says
He is indeed gorgeous Karen, thanks so much for posting his pic. I’m a Leo so I’m rather partial to lions and it’s difficult to find a picture of one looking so…poignant as this one does. Lovely!
