Hello everyone! Today I am back with my Third project for the Junk Journal Design Team! This is my “Dancer’s Dream” journal. I was heavily inspired by The Dancer Bundle from the Premium website. The cover is a soft cover made from a recycled paper bag, and I have covered the front with a dusty rose velvet, and edged the top and bottom with a few laces. The centerpiece of the cover is actually an old Christmas decoration. It’s meant to be a handheld fan, but when I saw it I couldn’t help but see a tutu for a ballerina, so I turned it upside down and viola! I did modify the colors of the roses a bit, by just adding some watered down pink acrylic. The banner title is made from the 1700’s Sheet Music Banner Printable. I printed the banners and backed them with card stock for some extra stability. I then embossed the edges of the banners with gold embossing powder and attached them to a spare piece of velvet ribbon. I sewed them onto the ribbon and attached it to the cover.
On the spine I used a bulb pin to attach this pretty charm with rhinestones and pink feathers. The closure is made with the same Velvet Ribbon. It measures 9”x6” with a 1 ½” spine. There are 4 signatures and 84 pages.
I covered with inside of the cover with a vintage style letter and postcard fabric. To the front inside cover I layered a few more laces as well as a lace and pearl flower. The first page is a journal page from The Dancer Bundle. I used pink acrylic to blur out the edges and give it a more soft and dreamy look. I also tore the edges of the paper to give it that softer vibe. I used a mixture of gold and clear embossing powder on her jewelry to give a little extra texture and shine to the page, and then layered a spare bit of lace and a butterfly wax seal above the quote, which is also from The Dancer bundle.
On the right I have used an old music page, some lace and a bird from the Parisian Pinks Bird Shapes Printable to create a pocket, where I have stored some tags from The Musician Bundle that I have backed on metallic green and pink card stock. I also included a wax paper music page and a vintage German postcard that I thought fit the colors perfectly. On the back of the postcard I have done a little collage with a ballerina image from the free website and another saying from The Dancer bundle. Under the music pocket page you can see a little peak of one of the wallpaper designs from the Pink and Green Ephemera Bundle, and on the right is some of my handmade pink wax paper.
Here I have used a ledger page from the Parisian Pinks Bundle. I added a little slow stitching to the bottom left corner, and used some white gesso to push the pink a little back and soften it. I tipped in an envelope pocket from the Pink Gold and Green Ephemera Bundle and added a digitally modified card from the My Favorite Things Set #2 bundle, topped with some lace and added another quote from the Sayings Printable from The Dancer Bundle. I also Included one of my Pink Floral Cards from my stash. On the Bottom right I layered a few tiles from the 1700’s Sheet Music Printables.
In this spread I used this gorgeous pink paper from The Dancer Bundle. I added more slow stitching and tipped in one of my favorite quotes about Dance. “We Dance for Laughter, We Dance for Tears, We Dance for Madness, We Dance for Fears, We Dance for Hopes, We Dance for Screams, We are the Dancers, We Create the Dreams” -Albert Einstein. I printed it on vellum for a soft see-through look and tore the edges to continue the softer feel for the journal.
Here on the left you can see some of my Antique Ledger paper I included. On the Right I have used one of the images from The Dancer Bundle to create a Belly Band. I layered it with some lace and more of the velvet ribbon, and used some pearl embossing powder with a small bird stamp to add a little shine and texture. Inside I have put a card that I digitally collaged using a postcard from the Parisian Pinks Bundle and a bird from the Favorite Things Bundle. I backed it with some vintage music sheet and some more metallic green cardstock.
For this spread I used another ledger page and wove some of the velvet ribbon through the edge for some texture. The right is another journal page from the Dancer Printable. I again softened the edges with paint and used some embroidery thread to give texture to the laces of the ballet shoes. I also added some small pink gems for a little shine. I included another of the saying from the printable in the top left corner.
On the left hand page I used more of that pretty pink paper in the background, and used a pocket from the Pink and Green Ephemera Bundle that I layered with more lace. Inside I have added another digital collage card, this time using one of the ballerina slippers from the Favorite Things Bundle. On the right is another of my handmade wax papers, this time in green, and I have added another of my lace scraps for some texture.
In the back of the journal I have added a little ephemera holder that I made using one of the images from the 1700’s Sheet Music. I printed the same image side by side, and used the wax technique to make it translucent. I added the closure with some brads and circles punched from the wallpaper image from The Dancer Bundle. I used some pink embroidery thread to close it up. Inside I have included more little gems in green and pink, a few scraps of antique ledger, some scrap lace and a few other items from my stash that match the color and theme.
Thank you all so much for joining me on this walk-through today, I hope you enjoyed it! This was so much fun to make and I was excited to try something a little different from my usual style. The soft colors and amazing bundles from the Graphics Fairy Premium Site made this an absolute joy to create.
