Diary of an Author Junk Journal
Hey, everyone! Angela Senechal of Maker Mom, one of our amazing new Junk Journal Design Team Members, created a pretty Diary of an Author Junk Journal for us this week. As you know, we feature one new Junk Journal project each week created by one of our creative team of artists. Our Design Team Members select from the 100’s of Vintage Image Bundles on our Premium Membership Site, for their creations, in order to show you beautiful ways to use those images. We hope you will be totally inspired by this series!
Therefore, please make sure you check out the video tour at the bottom of the page…please scroll all the way down to see it. Are you ready to be inspired? I will step out of the way and let Angela tell you all about her incredible project…
Hello everyone! My name is Angela. What an honor it is to be here sharing my first design team project with you! I’ve been downloading images from The Graphics Fairy for years. Now seeing all the bundles and images that are available with their premium membership, I realize what I have been missing out on!
After scrolling through many pages of themed bundles, I kept coming back to the beauty of the blues in the Author Kit. I began to imagine the life of an author…so this is when a “Diary of an Author” was born!
I used a very old German book to create this journal/diary. I reinforced the spine and then adhered digital parchment paper to the front and back inside covers. I used “Leaves from the Past” from the Author’s Kit to decorate the front cover of the book. Super simple but oh so elegant!
This journal has two signatures and about 80 sides. It has a very vintage feel to it. I used papers with different scripts and advertisements from the site as well as old photos, ledger paper, dictionary and old book pages. A list of all the premium site bundles used are at the end of this post.
Since an author would have a lot that she wants to document, I made tabs to help her organize her thoughts, memories, and photos.
The bundles are curated so well that it made this journal a cinch to assemble and allowed more time for me to embellish. The kit provides quotes, bookmarks, and washi that all coordinate perfectly. Using one of the printable bookmarks, I stitched the border, added some shiny stars, a little sari trim at the bottom, and voila!
A section for quotes was a must! I created a simple pocket using ephemera from the site and stuffed it full of quotes. A great place for her to visit when an author has writer’s block!
In the memories section, I included a map of Boston where the owner of this diary likes to visit, as well as photos of family and advertisements/clippings that she wanted to hang on to as keepsakes.
I made a little hidden envelope using the definition of an author graphic along with a few trims and lace.
The owner of this diary dreams of having her writings published and trusts that it will happen in God’s timing. There is a full flip through video below.
