DIY Pallet Art for Valentine’s Day

Hello all you BEAUTIFUL people! My name is Karin Chudy and I blog over at ART IS BEAUTY

I have been featured before on Karen’s site, but this is my first time as a CONTRIBUTOR…I feel so fancy now…:) I have been a long time fan of “THE GRAPHICS FAIRY” with good reason.

Karen, has given us all such amazing images to use for free so that we can then go on to create our own things with the images. So without further ado…please let me say,

Thank you so much to Karen, for having me here to show you guys how to make some “instant art” for Valentines day, using some free Pallets some paint and a GORGEOUS vintage Graphic.

Using the “I’m fully Occupied Photo Image” I was able to make this vintage inspired Valentine Pallet art for my mantle.

Now this is NOT the actual pallet art, but I thought I would show you guys how I usually assemble my pallet boards. I just line them up with two boards across the back and from the back I use my cordless screwdriver to put screws in to hold all the boards together.

Once the boards were together I painted them. I used CeCe Caldwells Pink Lady Slipper to give a nice vintage pink to the pallet boards. When the paint was dry I went to my computer and Printed off the “I’m fully occupied” graphic.

I cut it to the size I wanted and glued it to my board. I used regular old Elmer’s glue brushed on the back for that part.

Now here is the really fun part. I have regular modge podge; but when I am in a rush and don’t want to mess around I use this stuff. I have yet to find it at the craft stores around me which is weird but I got it at STAPLES. Its a spray modge podge and I LOVE it. I distressed the edges of my paper graphic using sand paper and then I just spray a couple coats of this on the top and you end up with a great vintage matte finish.

I really love how it turned out. I have used this image before also on vintage pillow cases using Iron on Transfers.

Really with all of Karen’s graphics the possibilities are ENDLESS.
