Hello Graphics Fairy readers! For my design team project this month I decided to create an antique angel journal with faithful images inside to inspire your creativity. I made it as a journal
kit allowing you to use the book in whatever way you like. I offered with the journal an antique paper pack as well as antique/vintage fabric and lace pack offering the reader the creativity to
make the journal theirs. All bundles and images I used are listed below.
For the cover I used a vintage book and covered it with coffee stained paper making sure to wrap the edges and then glued antique marble book cover images onto the front and
inner covers. I softened the colors of the images to match the soft tones of the book. I then slow-stitched antique and vintage fabrics (antique blue ticking from the 1800s, and gorgeous
french fabric from the early 1900s) along with old antique laces onto a separate piece of fabric and then glued the finished piece onto the spine. I stitched the fabrics with perle cotton and
crochet threads.
Shown here I made a flip out using a free image of a sacred heart from the graphics fairy blog as the focal point with cheesecloth underneath the image for that vintage look.
In this image I have made a cute tuck pocket using a beautiful old french stamp image found on the free site. It is off an old french document and I collaged antique music paper from the early 1800s beside it. That touch of new with old makes the digital appear old as well! On the opposite page I have a beautiful foxed digital image found on the premium site
To the left I have created my own antique paper using a digital collage method. I layered different antique elements (script and images) found in the premium membership to create a
beautiful layered page that adds interest to the journal and eye. Next to it is a very old page from the very early 1800s with beautiful gothic font. It was an inner title page to a very old book I
found while treasure hunting! It offers a lot of space for journaling.
I wanted to show this beautiful image of these wintery birds with evergreen trees because of the season in which this journal was made. Plus the colors just fit! The birds have these delicate
pink tummies, and the beautiful blue background of the sky – I felt went really well with the color theme of the journal! Plus you can see the back of the old antique page had a lot of space to
journal!
For this journal spread I took a beautiful image of Mother Mary and collaged it digitally onto an aged background, softened the edges to match the softness of the journal. Beside it is that
really old antique cotton rag paper music paper I was mentioning earlier. I screamed for joy when I found that book! It’s one of my favorite papers to use in my journals!:
Here is a really cute pocket to the right that I made using a windowed envelope. I collaged the envelope using one of my favorite images on the graphics fairy free site at french blue script
page and also some beautiful marble paper taken from the premium site as well. Inside the windowed envelope flip pocket is a sacred heart image taken from the free site.
Here I am showing you how I attached the windowed envelope flip. I used flour sack fabric and glued the envelope to the page itself. Behind the pocket is the other side of a digitally collaged
page I designed myself using graphics fairy script and images.
I am so in love with this page! I found this beautiful lacy card in a thrift store for 10 cents! It originally had a cherub image inside the oval but the colors and the image did not fit with my
antique theme. So I took a beautiful image of Mother Mary taken from a Holy Card found on the free site. I cut her out and she was already in an oval shape so it fit perfectly! I am really loving
how this looks!
In this image for the right page, I added one of the graphics fairy printables that was already designed this way! I grabbed it from the “Angel Ephemera” bundle. If you scroll to the very
bottom of the kit page you will see the printable section. I used only one side of the printable thereby designing my own page using one half of the printable! For the left page this is actually
a very old antique french book cover made of thick paper. It is the back cover and it was attached to the front title page and therefore could make it in my journal as a leaf!
Thanks so much for viewing my journal! If you are interested in purchasing this journal head over to my Etsy store as it will be for sale there! Hope you had a wonderful holiday season!
