11 Free Vintage Santa Clipart
This is a super fun collection of Colorful Retro Santa Clipart Pictures! Most of these cute Clip Art pieces are from around the 1950’s. Each one features our Jolly guy with his classic white beard and red stocking cap trimmed in white fur. The twinkle in his eye is sure to make you smile! Because these pieces are not as old as what I normally post on the blog, there is a risk in using these in your projects as it’s difficult to know what the copyright status on some these. I will include any info that I have on dates under each of the images below.
Santa ClipArt Faces

The beautiful Santa face came in a box lot of things I bought at auction last Summer. He’s probably from the 1950s or possibly 1960s, made in the USA and does not have a copyright date on him. I just adore his Jolly smiling face and his rosy red cheeks! He has a little jingle bell and a sprig of Holly adorning his hat. I’ve updated this one with a better quality scan than what was originally offered here, you can grab it above.
This gorgeous Retro Graphic comes from an old box of Christmas Cards! The image above shows a fabulous full face illustration, with Rosy Red Cheeks, and he is smoking a Pipe. This one probably dates to around the 1950’s or early 1960’s. I have the original box and there is no copyright mark on the box.
This is a Spectacular Retro Santa Claus Clip Art! This gorgeous image was scanned from one of my favorite finds, a fabulous Vintage Wrapping Paper Sample book! The book dates to Circa 1954, but does not appear to have ever held a copyright on it, as there is no copyright date in the book. The book is from the U.S. Shown above is one of the best St Nick Graphics that I have ever had! This fellow has a little Sprig of Holly on his Hat, his head is surrounded by Pine branches, forming a wreath or frame around him. The background color is a beautiful Teal Green! A nice image for your Handmade Holiday Cards!
I’ve take the same jolly guy from above and have removed the dark green background to give you more options. I’ve also enlarged him even more. He’s such a cutie don’t you think?!
This is a Super Cute Vintage Clipart picture with a Christmas Candy Cane! This adorable image was also scanned from the Circa 1954 Vintage Wrapping Paper Sample book! {Again, there was not copyright date shown in the book.} Shown above is our happy guy, with a red and white Candy Cane and the fluffiest white beard!
This is an Adorable Mr Claus, with green eyes. He appears to have a freshly plucked sprig of Holly in his red mitten-ed hand! I love how the pom pom from his hat is sticking straight up in the air. This was also scanned from the same 1954 wrapping paper book as some of the ones above.
This is a Super Cute Cheerful Retro Picture! Shown above is a happy little fellow, singing from a Christmas Song Book! He was also scanned from the 1954 wrapping paper book.
Here is the latest addition to this collection. This one is a cute and quirky little face! He’s a bit more primitive than the others, but I like his tiny round nose.
Free Santa Claus Clipart with Toys
This is an adorable Free Christmas Picture! Shown above is a darling Retro Santa with a big sack of Toys! He was scanned from an old Children’s activity book, the book does not have a copyright date in it, but appears to have been made around the 1950′s. This was originally made as a paper ornament, to be punched out and hung on a Christmas Tree! You could print it onto some card stock, cut it out and do the same. I think it would make a fun Handmade Christmas Card too or nice for Scrap booking projects!
This is a Super Fun Retro Candy Cane Image! Shown above is a funny little guy, hanging out on a Candy Cane, his green sack is filled with Toys and there are bits of holly decorating the whole scene! He is another one that was scanned from the 1954 Wrapping paper book.
Santa Clip Art with List
Here is our Jolly Fellow with his List in hand! Shown above is a Circa 1940’s Illustration of an adorable St Nick! This one was scanned from the back of an old Coloring book. He’s wearing his traditional Red and White Suit with black boots and a matching belt. He’s smoking a pipe and checking out his very long list! I guess he wants to make sure that he’s putting the correct gift in that Stocking. He’s shown on a striking cobalt blue background. I hope you enjoyed this nostalgic collection of Old Fashioned Clipart pieces!

I love these and wish I could figure out how to get them on a sweatshirt without the square iron-on transfer material showing.
Karen Watson says
Hi Joanne, It can be tricky. TAP transfer paper was always the best for that, they have changed the formula and I have not tried it since they changed it, but you might give it a try. You should be able to find it on Amazon.

Want to know why the Santa’s are pinkish in color? When I scanned them into my computer 20 years ago my scanner was not working properly and I had to get it fixed! I wish I had known way back then that I should have put a watermark on my scans… ugh! It just burns me up ppl are making money from my scans which were meant to be free for ppls enjoyment, & since they are previously copyrighted from the orig company I knew I could not sell them. I put that info on the uploads 20 years ago but, when ppl copy them they dont copy the info. I still have the cards, wrapping papers, books & mags I scanned from so I can def claim them but then the orig companies such as Hallmark can claim some as well! I never scanned them to sell!

Hi Sharon, I can assure you that every single image on this post was scanned from antique pieces from my collection. Most were scanned from a 1950’s sample wrapping paper book that I purchased many years ago. The wrapping paper book did not have a copyright date anywhere on the book so I don’t believe it was every copyrighted, which under U.S. law would put it in the public domain. The first Santa is a scrap and it had no markings on it. Obviously these were not one of kind pieces as many were sold in their day and you can still pick them up at antique malls, flea markets etc. I absolutely did NOT take your scans and I do not appreciate your accusation. It’s entirely possible that you may have one or two of these exact same pieces in your own collection. But I can assure you these are my scans and not yours. I spent quite a lot of money on that wrapping paper book so that my readers can have unique things for their crafts. I scanned them with my own scanner and cleaned them up in photoshop. The Santa’s with the pink faces are pink because that was the original color of the picture.

Love the happy Santas! They are all so jolly. Some of the older vintage ones are sort of grumpy looking but the vintage ones seem to be a little more happy.
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely graphics. I can usually find something fun to use for my scrapbooking pages or tags if I am stumped.
