So here it is, the final post documenting my husband’s (Mr Fairy!) weight loss journey. You might recall in my last 2 posts, where I told you guys that my husband had decided that it was time to shed a few pounds. In my first post, I explained that by making just a few changes he had lost 4 pounds. And then in my second post, I talked about how he had lost an additional 11 pounds, on top of that, in less than a month! Well I’m happy to report that here we are 6 weeks later from where we first started, and he has lost a grand total of 17 pounds! He went from 223 – 206! Yay! According to Mr Fairy, this is the lightest that he has been in 20 years! Just to reiterate these are the changes that he made that brought about losing those pounds:
- For dinner he’s focused on eating a smaller portion of meat and a much larger portion of vegetables, as well as keeping an eye on the total calories
- Instead of eating a high calorie sweet for dessert, he satisfies his sweet tooth with a delicious Fiber One Dessert Bar or Cookie Bar
- He’s eating dinner earlier in the evening
- He replaced his breakfast (which was a high-calorie granola bar) with a Fiber One Dessert Bar
- He’s continued with his daily walks and/or evening bike ride
Here’s a little bit of info about the bars that he’s been eating. The bars are all less than 150 calories each; some are even 90 calories! And they come in delicious flavors like the New Cheesecake Bars in Salted Caramel Cheesecake and Strawberry Cheesecake! Cinnamon Coffee Cake is another great flavor! They’ve got Cookie Bars too… like their delicious New Soft Baked Peanut Butter Cookie, the New Crunchy Sugar Cookie and Chocolate Chewy Bars. Yum!! Each Bar has 20% daily value of Fiber as well, another important consideration at this stage in our lives! With Fiber One you don’t have to fight your instincts, or your sweet tooth! Go on. Have one. 🙂

If you are having difficulty losing weight after integrating healthy choices into your daily life (such as smaller portions, no eating after 7, exercise 4 times a week, cutting down on unnatural processed foods and drinks (especially alcohol)) then it might be time to have your thyroid checked. A lack of success in losing weight after engaging in a healthy lifestyle can be a great indicator that the extra weight could be a symptom of medication you are taking or an underlying medical condition such as hormonal imbalance , thyroid complications, etc. Its important to address any issues in which your body doesn’t respond to properly such as healthy weight loss treatments and healthy lifestyle changes. Your body is trying to tell you something make sure you listen.

One of my tips is to give up soda! It used to keep me bloated plus no nutritional value.

I (mostly) gave up soda and instead I drink 100% juice mixed with sparkling water.

Lately I’ve been trying intermittent fasting in which you pretty much skip one meal a day. It sounds extreme but it isn’t really that difficult. You can eat for 8 hours every day and then you “fast” for the other 16 hours.

Congrads to your husband for his weight loss and lifestyle changes! We all know it’s not easy. For us, and me personally, the best approach is counting daily calorie intake, which means writing everything down that I can eat for the day so I know what I cannot eat; daily exercise in one form or another; eating more vegetables (1/2 your plate); using a smaller plate (for visual peace of mind); drinking water, water, water; and finally proper sleep so your body can it’s thing naturally. Good luck to all of us!

I just try to think before I eat/drink. Maybe I’ll choose a latte over a mocha, or take one piece of bread off of a sandwich. I find it’s easier to do it that way than to decide you’re only going to eat certain healthy foods and restrict yourself so much. I think that leads to failure! Thanks so much for the opportunity to win!

My tip is to go through your pantry and refrigerator and look at the condiments you have, and replace them with healthier versions! For example the ketchup that we’ve been using, had way too much sugar in it, and now we use a different brand with very little to no sugar. I think this change helped my family to become more healthy! If we want something sweet, we have dessert, but the sugar no longer comes from the condiments with the main meal.

The one change that helped me the most was cutting back on sodas.
